Winter/Summer Leave dates, anything official?

Post by tragictramp »

Just wondering if their are any official dates for Summer/Winter leave as I have been given 2 weeks off in october as summer leave which obviously is not anywhere near the summer.

It's a yearly annual leave allowance officially not split into summer and winter though some offices do have local agreements on it.

Ours operates a complete leave year that way people at bottom of list might not get a decent week in the summer with their first 2 weeks but usually get the weeks they want in the winter. Works out rather than top of list basically getting their first choice in effect twice the only get it once so more often than splitting summer and winter people get at least a couple of weeks they wanted

We don't have a summer / winter split. Some people want time off in the summer, others want time off after xmas and over the new year. Our leave is done in blocks so if you choose xmas, new year, you are unlikely to get July or August when the 2nd round of picking comes. Seems to work for us. The blocks rotate so 1st pick this year gets last pick this year. I was in the last block this year and still got my 1st choice.
