banking and clawing back of hours

has It been agreed with the union that management are allowed to claw back hours on the days you finish early?
And if not, is there a publication by CWU that says as much that I can show my manager?
I've just transferred and at my new office there are no extended delivery payments at all except at Christmas. I regularly go over because I have a really tough duty that can take 5 hours of delivery to complete on a heavy day. And that's doing it over the shoulder too! Most people at my office do go over their time working over the shoulder on a regular basis because the walks are really, really big. but they seem ok with it. I am not! I don't break off but as I'm part time I never work a Tuesday so I'm currently owed 9 and a quarter hours. I'm a bit fed up and want to start using a trolley as I should be but I would never finish a walk here working this way. I'm worried because I have a termination clause in my contract which is a little vague so can I be sacked for doing this?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated folks!

No such thing, get your union rep on to it, if you don't have an office rep, contact the area rep.

How long have you worked for RM ?
Has your office been through its revision ?

There is no agreement for clawing back hours and banking hours is frowned upon.
No such thing as not paying OT, if you go over your time, they pay, end of, or you cut off.

Its been admitted that trolleys were designed to slow you down.
If your office has had a revision, then the use of shoulder bags are forbidden. If management are making you use them, inform your area health and safety rep.

Claw back hours? Does anybody ever make time now? I know we can't. Even the runners go over as the walks are now horrendous. Rush round and you might get done in 4 and a half hours on a Tuesday. That's the best you get.

Yes, we are park and loop and on trolley use. We were one of the 1st offices to do so. I didn't know that carrying bags is forbidden. i would prefer to use a trolley, it is easier on your body on the long term for sure! But if I were to do this it would very much go against the grain in my office. it would certainly ruffle feathers! this is my 2nd stint at RM and have been with them for 16 months. even with these issues, I still love my job and if I am to go down this road I don't want to put my position in jeopardy! But I know what my managers are doing isn't right and I want it changed!

Crazy really, I want to do my job by the book but I am really worried about getting the boot for doing so!!!

can anyone point me toward some CWU communique that covers these issues?

Trolleys HAVE TO be used in most circumstances,although there are exceptions.

See your rep,and inform your colleaguse that the church of RMC think said colleagues are a bunch of cocks...

Thanks POSTMAN, that is really good of you to post that link, I shall read every word of it over the next day. I want to show my new colleagues and management team that they both are totally disregarding this new agreement and that I am honoring it. I do feel that I am going to have to be squeaky squeaky clean from now on in. I am predicting that I am going to upset my p+l partners, management and softy office union rep. here goes.......!

Does anyone think that I, by doing this I could force office wide changes to eliminate these discrepancies?

Ufortunately due to the now selfishness of alot of our fellow workers banking hours does exist but is usually a secret agreement between the postie and manager especially if claiming the overtime affects their benefits.

Does bag over the shoulder really save time? I am a walker only (no driving) and use a trolley 99% of the time except for one very small 10 minute loop unless it has a few packets. I have tried using bag on the shoulder but to be honest the number of times you have to take it off the shoulder just to get mail/packets out makes me believe that the time gained from nipping over fences etc is lost by the time taken up with the awkwardness of the shoulder bag. Very seldom do I leave my partners waiting even though the drivers are the ones that seem to not want to use a trolley.

I thinks its a misreading of the semantics. They weren't designed to slow you down, but the use of them slowing you down should be built into the planning of the duty,
