The thing to do is to find a niche where a job share can be done. Some of our part timers only work three days a week Thu, Fri, Sat as rest day covers. I took buy down 9 years ago and did 25 hours over 5 days, then 25 hours over 4 days, now it's 17 hours over 3 days. To get the 4 and 3 days though I had to wait a year to get the other hours authorised and a recruit found. It would be handy to find someone who wanted a similar role and the 6 day/ week off would be negotiable and possible.

So now you work a 3-day week...
What is your basic holiday allocation? 13.5 days?
You get a paid day off when a bank holiday falls on Thurs/Fri/Sat?
You get an extra annual leave credit day for EVERY bank holiday on Mon/Tues/Weds, your days off?

If you are only doing 3 day week then you should not be getting credit for all the bank holidays. There is a formula that Royal Mail use to determine what you actually get.I work 3 days job share and basically end up getting 3/5ths of the bank holidays if they all fall on my day off.

You are owed them, but as a part timer you are not entitled to be paid for all of them. Your entitlement is the percentage related to the number of days you work as against a full five day working week.

Depends how many shifts a week you do. If you are doing the full five days per week (ie you work full time) then you are entitled to be credited with all the bank holidays that fall on you day off.
If you only work 3 days a week and all of the bank holidays fall on your day off then you will only be credited with 5 days against the total number of bank holidays there are which is 8.
The other thing to remember is that you may be doing an 8 hour shift but if your contracted hours are only 5 hours per shift you will only be credited at the rate of 5 hours.
