Operation while on holiday
Ok asking just as the title says. I am planning to have an operation and will try to take it while on my holiday. Is this ok or will I be on sick? What happens if I'm still not recovered when I am due to go back to work after my holiday.

You can do what you like whilst on holiday.
I did same. Unfortunately op went wrong. Ended up on sick further three weeks.

You should have your op and have your holidays put back. You are entitled to have an op on the employers time, especially if it is for remedial purposes which will improve your capability to do your job.justdeno wrote:Ok asking just as the title says. Re: Operation while on holiday
I tried to do the same. But, 11 months previous I had a procedure that went wrong. Ended having a month off. Conscious of the stage procedure. Got hauled in to have another go - this also went wrong. Ended up having a further three weeks off. I'll always remember calling our HR. Fool asked if I'd like to use some more of my leave. I'm sure he thought he was paying for my A/L the way he spoke...ballee wrote:You should have your op and have your holidays put back. If you wish to have your operation during your annual leave then that is your decision but there are other alternatives.justdeno wrote:Ok asking just as the title says. As Ballee posted if you keep your manager informed that you are entering hospital for an operation that could be classed as corrective surgery which will enhance your capabilities of performing your duty then your annual leave will be credited to you.
On a similar basis you can request special leave which can be paid or unpaid at the discretion of the manager depending on the circumstances.
After your operation you will obviously be given further time off for your recuperation which no doubt will be more than your annual leave allocation and if the surgery is required after an accident at work then this would be discounted from the attendance procedure.
