SA Allowance

Can someone tell me what SA overtime rate is and , especially over christmas, how do you get it? I.E. do you have to ask, is it given to everyone automatically, does your rep get it for you etc? , any help please because no-one in our "small" office seems to know or care about it.
Probably on here somewhere, Ive looked but cannot find anything....thanks in advance.

SA - is Scheduled Attendance Overtime. It is contracted overtime that you HAVE to do, its not pressure or voluntary overtime (hence the enhanced rate).

SA is normally through a local agreement either for a specific occurrences (such as Christmas) or as part of a revision.

You can't get it just because you go over (pressure), or because the boss asks you to come in early/late (voluntary). You have to sign separate and specific contract which has various specific clauses and conditions.

As to the actual rate - sorry never done it so not sure what it is.

In previous years we got SA rate for working our days off (up to 8 hours, with normal pressure OT beyond that[1]) but manglement seem to very quiet on the subject this year.

[1] Or the full 10 hours worked in at least one case I know off, even though it was listed separately on the docket they entered the data wrong and thus overpaid!

we were asked to sign a sheet in November agreeing to clear everything during xmas pressure.those who agreed get extended paid at SA rate,those who refused get normal rate.It was supposed to be agreed with the union.yeah right

Our Christmas pressure hours are paid at SA rate, no commitment to finish your delivery required just work till your time

It's not worth busting your balls over Dragon....... Like ALL our Overtime Rates....IT'S CRAP! Yeah well done CWU another big win for the Workers!

It's probably only about 50p more than you'd usually get. In the deep distance past when I used to work my days off! Ha Ha I got the DOM to pay me it at SA, because due to the amount of 1st 10 hours OT I earned, I was actually working my day off for less than my normal rate.

I think the CWU should really revisit these Overtime rates and hammer out a better deal , as we're all being expected to work harder and for longer! Once they (Management) do the maths and realise how much they're paying out in Overtime (say at Time and a half) they might employee some more Posties to do the work that we all know exists within most DOs.
