five per cent annual savings

Post by paulf0203 »

I am advised that my Manager has to save five per cent a year which I believe is the same everywhere, can you tell me what has occurred in your office in order to make the savings.

Yep they reduce planned hours and replace with Ad Hoc hours (Pressure overtime etc) as necessary.

Its a budget shuffling exercise which is normally met through natural wastage, dismissals or Redundancy and Retirements.

The overtime rate ,is poor ,but with the recent ruling on holiday pay on O/T Managers that are left after the next cull early next year may be under even more pressure!

that's the bit I don't get. Yeah you'd have to pay a person sick and holiday pay, but this method is leading to failing mail if people don't want the overtime. It's almost like it comes from another budget. We can't replace people ,but 'who want to work their day off' rings around the office every Monday from our line manager. Madness.

Overtime can be managed. Contracted hours have to be paid regardless of workload.
