Not be outdone by Scrooge, the DIM announced yesterday lapsing would return on xmas eve.
FFS, we haven't even got the xmas pressure out of the way yet. Yes, it's usually a quiet day, but we can't have the postie going home early to his family after 4 weeks flogging himself to death, can we? God forbid he spends an extra hour at home with his family on his 48-hour 'xmas holiday' before returning Saturday!
And the poor sods like me who have been delivering a lapsed round in December week after week, we can't be on it during the peak day for xmas tips, can we??

Had our meeting about Xmas

Was told from Monday that lapsing was suspended.

They are going to put the 3walks out for overtime. (Yeah ok)

But if they can't cover them we will have to lapse and we will be paid 1 hour for the bit we do

Then we said SO lapsing has not been suspended then ? And they said yes it has we just told you

Forgot to mention that we have 5 regular walks that are overtime every day which 3 people take
So how the effing are they gonna cover the 3 lapsing ones too ???????

Oh haven't you heard ? We are down on packets this yr, 6% I believe the figures are .....ha ha ha. On a serious note from a business point of view, if there is work to be done I see no reason why we shouldn't have to do our full hours ,whatever the day is, it is what we are paid for. If you wanted something from tesco in their last hour of opening on xmas eve and found all the staff had gone home early and it was closed because it wasn't very busy you'd be peeved off wouldn't you. I have no problem working my hours.
