Operational Needs
Can I be taken off my duty because I do the job correctly, i.e. come in on time, do my 1/6th day D2D, take my meal break and want to finish on time at least on the 'quieter' days of Monday and Tuesday? My Union Rep has said they can't and tells me to cut off but speaking to DOM this week he insists he can under 'operational needs' by putting a runner on the job who comes in early every day and doesn't claim even when goes over. Is there any written confirmation of either viewpoints?

Re: Operational Needs
if you signed for the duty and do the duty as you say you do he cannot take you off it as he has no cause to do that hold your ground the rep is with you good luck

Re: Operational Needs
No such documents but if you signed for it is yours why come off it. Is it because they are bullying you again these managers are a law unto themselves!Fishless wrote:Ok, thanks, problem is Union told me the same thing last year and I still got taken off the job and only after grievance got back on my job months later - now exactly the same threats again am hoping someone knows if there are any documents regarding this rule

Re: Operational Needs
If you get moved to another duty then stick to your time EVERY day, which will cause more problems than the DOM has at the moment - at least you appear to show goodwill at the moment by going over on busy days, but he wants to be a silly bugger then you should follow his good example.

Re: Operational Needs
Words needs to be had with said runner.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Operational Needs
Our runners don't stay still long enough to talk to them. No breaks, in early, out an hour before anyone else..............then home to watch Bargain Hunt. Bliss..................... wish my life was like that.

Re: Operational Needs
So what your DOM is essentially saying is, you have performance issues ?
Ask to be walk tested, see what he says about that.
Then test the said runner, but this time he walks and takes his break.
If all else fails, then go off sick using stress related illness caused by the stress of being moved off your walk.

Re: Operational Needs
Grievance now. Do not wait. If a threat to move you has clearly been made by DOM do not hesitate. Your REP should also be challenging DOM on the bigger picture, assuming runners go home early before duty finish times.
