Courier Special.Our Strategy In Focus????
Received this pile of propaganda this morning. Seems that RM Management are basing ALL their future figures on a large crystal ball. Where can RM Posties get this ball?
4-6% per annum Expected decline in letters! Anyone had a word to these mystics that it is an election year in 2015?
Changes are needed to ensure the Universal Service is sustainable! This means we are getting rid of the USO, by an instant act of Parliament or RM will enforce 20000 job losses. Blackmail/Poker.
Amazon delivers packets itself therefore the rate of growth drops around 1-2%. This on the same day that Amazon announced that the P.O. will be a collection point for click and collect.
Our Parcels Strategy. This is a beauty.RM are investing around £130million over 5 years to roll out appox 76000 next gen hand held scanners. Therefore RM will have a workforce of 76000 delivery posties? Sorry Approximately 76000.
What incompetent management are running OUR company?
I know they are selling off RM property to pay off these idiots but obviously RM are not selling it off fast enough.
£111 million for land in Paddington=????

What can you say, these are the people that declared that the future was parcel shaped, yet packet volumes have fallen! What vision! Should have gone to Specsavers.El-Bandito wrote:Received this pile of propaganda this morning. Seems that RM Management are basing ALL their future figures on a large crystal ball. I read this the first time and didn't think anything of it but 76, 000 seems a pretty low figure for hand held capture devices by 2016/17 or am I reading too much into this.

correct me if im wrong please, 76000 is a very low number, so i can imagine delivery walks being 6 to 7 hours long, i'm off.... if this is the case, that will kill people, they live in cuckoo land... they only think about the route of all EVIL......... MONEY MONEY AND MONEY...

Its about right at present we have 75000 delivery "routes" (P&L counting as 2) - as its handheld and offers photo capabilities and "support more flexible deliveries for customers not at home when it attempts to deliver parcels. The devices will enable customers to inform Royal Mail of safe locations to leave items if they are not at home" all seems aimed at delivery duties, not collection, indoor or Mail Centres.

Or they're expecting the head count on deliveries to be less by then.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Its about right at present we have 75000 delivery "routes" (P&L counting as 2) - as its handheld and offers photo capabilities and "support more flexible deliveries for customers not at home when it attempts to deliver parcels. Re: Courier Special. Our Strategy In Focus????
So ~£130M on ~76000 new PDAs, just a few years after spending how much on those brick PDAs (with useless batteries) that were rolled out during Delivery Methods?
And how much was spent on the new uniforms, which are no better than the items they replaced?
And how much was spent on those vans, which are not designed for short stop-start daily use?
And how much was spent on WCM staff positions and their wonderful ideas to make things more efficient?
Why are the top roll managers being awarded for wasting millions of pounds?

Re: Courier Special. Our Strategy In Focus????
they could save a s**t load of money by not sending this shite out every few weeks for a start, its always the same bollocks they tell us on RMTV - which is another huge financial waste I imagine.

But will deliveries and distribution ( collections ) be more joined together in the future ?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Its about right at present we have 75000 delivery "routes" (P&L counting as 2) - as its handheld and offers photo capabilities and "support more flexible deliveries for customers not at home when it attempts to deliver parcels. Think it's more a case of showing that the Company is communicating with it's Staff. They need it for Industry awards such as Investing in People, which they need because other companies will only deal with suppliers/services that have certain awards.framusjsx wrote:they could save a s**t load of money by not sending this shite out every few weeks for a start, its always the same bollocks they tell us on RMTV - which is another huge financial waste I imagine.
Agree they appear to waste a load of money but you can Opt out of receiving the Courier, which may help your Blood Pressure! Unfortunately I don't think you can Opt out of WTL, and we're all condemned to be Brainwashed by that Dim women, who obviously couldn't get a job on local TV! Oh and don't forget to set up your Twitter thingey so you can get the latest updates as you're slogging around your Duty!

Re: Courier Special. Our Strategy In Focus????
Excellent post red trolley!!
Its just more money being thrown away by the "decision makers" of this company
Seriously, I have never known a company that always communicate to its workers like its going to sink faster than the titanic?? All the news you read either in the courier or on here is all about "we need to change our working practices or we are going to die". And yet the reality is....we made a healthy half-yearly operating profit of £279 million. And we still have large departments designing/buying new uniforms, new vans, new PDAs etc etc
The iceberg was hit a few years ago now when our monopoly ended. Crozier, Leighton and pals dashed off with their sizeable bonuses and have left a Captain on board who doesn't really know which way our ship should be steered. Its the same old path though as other competitors take some business off us and the business team start blue sky dreaming of ways to cut costs. I say 'dreaming' because when a lot of their think-tank ideas get put to Area Reps and communicated down the food chain they are actually laughable; because if they were put into practice we probably would not have a business!! If the Captain does her homework she might find that there are a few senior managerial staff that need looking at in the upper and middle decks, rather than those that are keeping the Royal Mail engine going in the lower deck.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Oh they've got a strategy - I thought they just made it up as they go along
They take the profits, you take the blame
When they tell you there's no rise in pay
When they tell you there's no rise in pay
