Special Deliveries on Saturday
If there is no SG (Saturday Guaranteed) sticker we do not have to deliver before 1pm, is that correct?
My rep says otherwise.

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
If it has the SG sticker on, it must be delivered before 1pm
If there is NO SG sticker, it is NOT guaranteed before 1pm, but must be delivered that day.

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
No SG sticker on SD item sent Friday is guaranteed by 1pm on Monday?
There is so much misinformation dished out by management regarding premium items signed for from the callers office, as and when it suits them...
"Internationals must be delivered by 1pm." No they don't.
"Normal Special Delivery items must be delivered by 1pm on a Saturday." No they don't. If they do, why are we conning customers to pay extra premium for the SG stickered items?

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
You might be correct in that if for any reason a non SG can't go out on the Saturday, it can roll over to the Monday.97gaz wrote:pod25 wrote:If it has the SG sticker on, it must be delivered before 1pm

I think if it's delivered it still has to be before 1PM whether it's guaranteed or not. It'll show up as a failure if delivered after 1PM. I think a non guaranteed item can be held over till Mon if needed.
We just treat them all the same on a Saturday.
But in my 11 years with RM, I've been told that if it is a non SG and it does go out on the Saturday, you can deliver after 1pm and I have done many times, with no repercussion.

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
On the subject of special delivery items we are now being told that if we attempt delivery and no answer at customers premises p739 left us usual and put through PDA as no answer BUT wait for this........we are going to be brought down the conduct route if we meet the customer later (who we know and have built up a good relationship over the years) and rescan the item and give it to them. We are told NOT to give them the item we are to tell them to go into the depot and pick it up! Anyone got any views on this?

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
We've been told the opposite,we can rescan after 100pm IF the initial scan was done before that, this option wasn't shared with postmen because management didn't trust them to scan before 100 pmlylehillboonen wrote:On the subject of special delivery items we are now being told that if we attempt delivery and no answer at customers premises p739 left us usual and put through PDA as no answer BUT wait for this........we are going to be brought down the conduct route if we meet the customer later (who we know and have built up a good relationship over the years) and rescan the item and give it to them. The argument was that they couldn't come up with an answer to the question "what is the difference between scanning at the callers after 1.00 & rescanning on a pad on the street after 1.00pm"
There is a clear breakdown of where & when the item was scanned via RM Trace & Trace
But there again our managers are a bit vague about RM policy

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
If you attempt a second delivery to a customer who was not in say an hour previous and it is still before 1pm, there is no problem. If it has passed 1pm and you redeliver, it will show as failed, because it was not rescanned back into the office first.lylehillboonen wrote:On the subject of special delivery items we are now being told that if we attempt delivery and no answer at customers premises p739 left us usual and put through PDA as no answer BUT wait for this........we are going to be brought down the conduct route if we meet the customer later (who we know and have built up a good relationship over the years) and rescan the item and give it to them. In that scenario, use the old fashioned way and carry some of the old signing cards with you and use them.

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
Thanks for the reply. Why do the pimps not tell us this! Luckily the situation hasnt arose for me to tell the customer they have to go into the depot for the item while I have it in the van! Its a ludicrous scenario similar to the targets set for tracked items the nonsense around this is discussed on a different thread!

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
If you get the SD from the RLE then it's due to be delivered by 1pm, no matter what day it is you just deliver it.

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
This bit comes over to me as if you are handing a piece of mail over in the street, which is strictly against policy, nothing should be handed over away from the address written on the item.lylehillboonen wrote:On the subject of special delivery items we are now being told that if we attempt delivery and no answer at customers premises p739 left us usual and put through PDA as no answer BUT wait for this........we are going to be brought down the conduct route if we meet the customer later (who we know and have built up a good relationship over the years) and rescan the item and give it to them. Royal Mail confirmed they have addressed the underlying policy which led to the confusion.
A spokesperson said: “We have looked into this complaint and we apologise to the customer for any inconvenience.
“This was a misunderstanding and we have now revised the training of our staff to ensure that customers can indeed be given their item of mail if they approach the postman near their home. The customer now has her parcel.”

Re: Special Deliveries on Saturday
Yes I understand what you are saying but I meant as I deliver in a deep rural meeting the customer as I leave their premises or calling again at the premises later in the delivery or on way back to the depot if I drive past and see that they are in.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:This bit comes over to me as if you are handing a piece of mail over in the street, which is strictly against policy, nothing should be handed over away from the address written on the item.lylehillboonen wrote:On the subject of special delivery items we are now being told that if we attempt delivery and no answer at customers premises p739 left us usual and put through PDA as no answer BUT wait for this........we are going to be brought down the conduct route if we meet the customer later (who we know and have built up a good relationship over the years) and rescan the item and give it to them. Same here - non-SG items posted Friday have a deadline of 1PM Monday. Unless it's SG I don't worry on a Sat.
