Royal Mail a company run by people who have never done the job .... here is their lack of intelligence laid out bare ... this is aimed at their sales staff and the management above them ... accepting contracts for Red Cross D2ds in the last week of November when postmen are struggling just to deliver ordinary mail they now have to deliver bulky undressed postal items and when I mean bulky I mean bulky and on top of that Royal mail accepted another contract from BQ which is basically a catalogue so not only do we have the bulk of Red cross d2ds we have the bulk and the weight of BQ d2ds along with 5 other contracts ... ... here is the madness of Royal Mail the sales people & Royal Mails management attitude in general is "oh they have a high capacity Trolley" they can manage it yeah they are Trolleys not vans .... please try doing our job for a day or 2 then you will understand the insanity of accepting these two contracts at this time of the year ... not to mention the health and safety aspect of half the delivery frames will be surrounded by nearly 14 boxes and 7 or 8 big bundles of BQ d2ds .... instead postmen affected will have to throw out large numbers of packets just to deliver these items that people dump in their bins without reading thus putting our parcel man under more pressure at a already busy time of the year ..... thank you Royal Mail for being completely clueless yet once again

maybe if the office hadnt agreed to a high bsi figure or if they were taking their packets out and cutting off when working to their time rather than passing them over for someone else to deliver then they wouldnt feel under as much pressure

Try and get two of these in a slot for two houses and then try to get and anything else in the slot................ not possible. These are okayed for delivery by people who have absolutely no idea what it entails in prepping mail. But then it doesn't matter to them because they are not the ones doing it. This is the trouble with delivery, it is ruled by colleagues who have no idea of what it is like at the sharp end.

well said brother around half our slots are exactly that 2 calls per slot and at the wrong time of the year the last week in November when the packets/parcels are going through the roof .... luckily i'm off next week but the rest of our boys have to live with this sh!t

Saturday 22nd November. As a spare bod today, I have been mainly picking up what the rest of the colleagues cannot manage re. packets etc. I repeat 22nd November not 22nd December. What is it going to like in three weeks time when it will be really busy. As Moya said in her last statement "Xmas is coming, but we are ready". It proves that the hierarchy have absolutely no idea what is happening on a day to day basis with RM. It is only to placate the major share holders to give the indication that all is well. Turbo charged vans me thinks are needed, plus PLENTY of overtime. The D.O five miles up the road from us had 5 walks uncovered today............happy days.

and many posties like myself around the country not willing to do overtime for many different reasons, one of them is the ridiculous overtime rate of pennies above the normal rate for the first 10 hours and below the normal rate after 10 hours ... where is the incentive for post men to work over time for this company when they have nothing but disdain for us ie they think we are at it, slacking/ skiving not walking fast enough

haven't you heard Nigel Royal Mail want to do Christmas on the cheap ie reduce overtime etc

do you think Hayes, Ward and the PEC care about us whilst sitting with Moya and their RM counterparts for their lunch ?? we've to keep bailing them out as per usual

I have, compared to some colleagues, only been with RM a few years (7). Previously been in management in the food industry for 30 years. If he food industry, serving the major supermarkets behave the same way as RM then then shelves would be empty on a daily basis. It is so hit and miss as who is going to turn up in the morning, who is fit enough to do a walk, who can we get to do this and that and what the fcuk are we going to do with that lot over there. The pay may be crap but the entertainment is free.

true it is never a dull day in Royal Mail ... I've been doing this since the the 1st of April 1990 ..... yeah I feel a right April fool at times as well funnily enough

All 3 offices near us and inc us , have been hit with the Red Cross bulk posting and five other contracts , really thoughtful of you ! How the hell can they throw all this at us at this time of year ! The office is a mess with boxes everywhere h & s my a ss . Like everyone else there's no chance of doing the busy Xmas mail and s hit loads of packets along with extra bags for every loop of 6 d t d including Red Cross and b n q bulk rubbish . We should all refuse to deliver these as it's not doable , rant over

Spare bod? Lol, when I got back to the office today there were still 3 walks that hadn't even been fully prepped, there was nobody to prep or deliver them. They'll be still there on Monday.
