Day off Christmas week is Christmas Day:(

My day off Christmas week( WC mon 22nd) is............Christmas Day:(
My question is: Shouldnt I be offered another day off that week? Surely it is unfair that, if and when , your day off falls on a bank holiday, that you do not have the option to have a rest day in that particular week. I dont want a lieu day(joke) or paying O/T.

No not really:)
Just a bit fed up when I realised that my rotational day off is Christmas day. So while most of the other staff will do a 3 day week that week, I will HAVE to do 4 days!!!
In previous jobs (retail) if your RDO fell on a Bank Holiday, you were offered another rest day in that week...........hope this is making sense

It comes under the realms of 'swings and roundabouts' this has happened to all of us over time. I am long weekend over Xmas week so get 5 days off!! Your turn will come. You work for Royal Mail now, this isn't like any other retail unit. Hope this helps.

I know your right but it still bloody annoying :( Obviously the simple solution would be to give Sat 27th as everyones RDO. It gives all us minimum 3 days rest( needed aswell)
and also gives us more "man" hours during the beginning of the week.............but that would be too simple for RM !!!

Royal Mail do this because a lot of people will phone in sick on 27th December, so they will need manpower to cover it.

mail drops off.....yeah right, apart from the holiday brochures, the mail order catalouges new year sales, every credit card company offering new deals, the back log of badly addressed xmas cards , apart from that then yes It might drop off.

Whilst not that busy with mail, the junk mail has been backing up in the mc's and comes like a tidal wave just after xmas. OP you will get a good deal one year like xmas eve off etc and it is swings and roundabouts , it evens out in the end , just like longs and shorts.

My Mrs has to work xmas day in shitty catering+(10-14h shifts for £7 an hour upto-60hpw) which makes our job look fairly decent?We can cut-off if go over our time,she can't finish untill they're all cleaned up, even if due off 2300,she could be there until 0100+(im the fkr that picks her up
OT at least at time not half/sched like us and still go in for 9am for another double/early shift following morning!
At least we get time to unwind

No week off since April bcos they fn cancelled her weeks off twice between then and now(non-unionised u see)

No pay for 1st 3 days if sick nm

Unlike the Golden days of the late 80's when we supposedly delivered more mail(BS..t) and fuked off home 1-2H early most days thx to our night-sorters (no IP for us yay+(oh and the Ghost OT)+actually got paid D2D per call until they clued up
