Dear Colleague



Support for the Workers Involved in the United Biscuits Dispute in Aintree



United Biscuits in Aintree is a site that currently produces well known brands including Jacob's Cream Crackers and Club chocolate biscuits. The site is well organised and provides decent quality manufacturing jobs for around 1200 workers.


The company has recently been purchased by Ulker, a Turkish manufacturing company, making ulcer one of the largest biscuit manufacturers in the world.

Ulker is unilaterally withdrawing its company sick-pay scheme, changing current arrangements around a Christmas shutdown and has threatened to move manufacture of the above products out of the Aintree site.

The GMB covers the workers at the site and has a live ballot for industrial action with an 84 percent vote in favour of strike action.

The GMB has asked unions to send messages of support to Stuart Fegan, GMB national officer stuart.fegan@gmb.org.uk and to support the union's campaign for maintaining decent terms and conditions and keeping manufacturing in Aintree.

Pretty rich for a union leadership that doesn't support strike action for it's own membership.

Well he did not pasty the test today in the Business Select Committee he did not have a lot to say for us or the competition and the fact DSA has eroded our once great service into a business that has it's arms tied around it's back with the DSA! We should charge them what we want I would not open a shop if I had to sell competitors products for less than I could sell them without my piece of the cake.
