Does anyone know what the correct procedure for using the hct ? am going to be tested on a duty want to know the correct way to use it ?

Take the key with you when you leave it, keep it chained to a lamp post when you leave it, and take a hacksaw with you in case you lose the keys. Push it slowly, especially if there is too much and you have two bags on top when you leave the office. Take your break, arrive back after your official finish time and book overtime. These mediaeval contraptions should be banned.

and if it is out of sight, make sure you don't leave anything in the hct especially special deliveries etc.

Don't leave the office without having read the SSOW - you can be sure your DIM won't have, but he will still screw you over if anything goes wrong.

The correct method when moving with your HCT…

1. push unit using both handles
2. stop unit applying both brakes
3. make visual security checks
4. if not using a Mk2 with 'optional' bundle holder remove key from safe location
5. open lid of trolley with key or open bundle holder
6. take out only the mail for the current delivery point
7. take note of the next delivery point address
8. close lid
9. remove key, (if used), and return to safe location
10. recheck security
11. deliver mail
12. another security check
13. release both brakes
14. repeat

Take special attention that your HCT should wherever possible use lowered sections of kerb, don't drop off or climb kerbs 4" or more.
The HCT should not be used as a mobile pouch box, (you dont' fill up from it, deliver and return to it to refill), you push around your delivery points.

I'll bet your Manager cannot cope with more than half an hour of this correct procedure

Other than ensuring that there is still a maintenance contract for the pouch boxes and that security considerations have been assessed, I see no reason that it cannot be done.
