How many people have nearly lobbed their PDA's?

They are nothing but an annoying nightmare. I think a 3rd of the office's PDA's have bad batteries now. Mine was bleeping low battery as soon as id done my first loop and the blooming thing won't just remind me every so often, it reminds me every 5 seconds and worst of all reminds me as a customer is signing a recorded.

Also how many people have pulled their PDA's out of their pocket/holdster to find its on a completely different screen with no X to remove it?
Lump of rubbish that runs as fast an 1983 BBC Micro computer. I wish someone would do a software update on these things!!

Yes today the same, with rain pissing down,PDA beeping, pen not working, P739's soaked,water poreing from gutters and then finealy after waiting at a door for customer to answer, take out PDA to see a blank screen

had a argument with a couple of chaps in a white van a couple of years ago
yes i was blocking the road but it was a long day they gave me abuse so i slung my
pda at the van but it bounced off they reversed off.
and the pda nothing wrong with it (a good weapon).

The person directly responsible for ordering these pieces of crap should be held accountable, other companys had far more advanced pda's before we were issued with these mk1. bricks that give absolutley no representation of a persons signature, it was a massive step backwards in my oppinion from a genuine signature on a pice of paper and a quick rush at trying to get involved with online tracking.
They are awkward, temperamental, time consuming pieces of garbage and make the company look poor when customers sign only to see a childs scribble appear.
Who placed the order for these?
What is the individual unit price and contract worth?
Why was outdated equipment purchased?
Why were these units not trialled by posties first?
Were back handers involved?
Who is the company that make these crude devices?
Peoples phones are more advanced than these units mind you so is a cassio watch.

I've said this before - the batteries can only be reasonably expected to last circa 3 years as they are good for about 1,000 charges. The idiotic system means the whole bloody unit has to be booked out to get a replacement, whereas common-sense would decree each DIM has a tester and can simply order the replacement batteries or keep a small stock.
As for the moronic 'honk honk honk' every 10 seconds - the battery is low so the then stupid thing expends more energy honking and illuminating telling you all the time. You can stop it by holding the small round yellow button at the top of the keys down. It will rejuvenate when you scan again. Then of course you're getting a signature and saying to the customer "Quick mate sign before the pop-up warning appears in a few seconds' time!"
I had an iPad come from Amazon the other evening - slim PDA and big signature area and you could even sign with your finger as it drew a thin line despite the width of your fingertip.
Years behind we are.

Any yes, I have thrown it temper several times. Unfortunately they are near-indestructible.

Replacements are due to be rolled out July 2015 and I just hope they realise they need to roll them out in the order the originals were rolled out because they do only have a 3 year life span.

Let's see , what do they actually do in a typical day? Well mine does about 20 tracked beeps and 10 recorded beeps and a few specials , then the associated text messages , and that's it! They need charging all night and the batteries can't cope after 2 hours . Rubbish. Killing our jobs in the long run.

Ask the callers office for a new battery. They should be able to order a new one.
