Re: Really?
the sad truth is, this is all so the blame can be put on YOU
if you fall over they can then turn around and say "why didnt you report it"
Its all about reducing RMs liability when people have accidents

Correct, which is why we cannot even change a van wheel.Postie45 wrote:the sad truth is, this is all so the blame can be put on YOU

You can if you have been "trained". No wonder we are in the mess we are in. Despair ,we are doomed.tansorboy wrote:Correct, which is why we cannot even change a van wheel.Postie45 wrote:the sad truth is, this is all so the blame can be put on YOU

Re: Really?
At out WTL today we were told on royal mail tv and by our dom that we now can no longer change tyres if we have a puncture out on delivery. We have to phone the RAC and wait on them to come to repair it. Health and safety has gone nuts. Most of our duties are rural and in some places we can't get a phone signal. So what if we get a puncture and the nearest house is 4 miles away and we have no signal what are we meant to do? Absolute joke.

That's about right, imagine you get a puncture on your way back to DO, you change it, drive back, log off and go home, next day is your rest day. then say next day your floater has a bad accident in the van because you hadn't tightened the nuts properly or maybe hadn't noticed some other damage at the time. even worse if your floaters P&L partner is in the van without even thinking of any innocent people involved.
BTW I'm not saying you personally don't know how to change a wheel, but I bet there's plenty out there who don't.
I even changed wheels for customers at their home in the past, but wouldn't do it now.
not worth risking my job for.

Re: Really?
Even if you are trained the vehicle should then go to the workshop at the earliest appropriate time to be torque tested by a mechanic or alternatively he comes to the depot to check it - but does it happen every time.............well I suppose it doesn't, however the log book should be annotated with the wheel change and who did it - but does that happen every time?
