The light weight red shower jacket is a joke.

I find the larger jacket too warm unless its really cold. I bought 2 very cheap £6 delivered waterproof navy blue jackets from ebay and keep one in the bottom of the HCT. If we get a shower I put it on with the high vis over the top. It also has a hood. Its bad when you can buy cheap crap on ebay that does a far better job than RM issue.

i got to say the waterproof leggings are good but thats all, coats are crap five minutes in the rain and your soaked

Agree completely ,that is why I buy my own,regrettably. Buy my own boots as well. Have stopped short at buying a van though,there are limits! For now

I bought my own Montane Atomic jacket, highly rate it super breathable so no excess sweating and completely waterproof, and the hood actually fits and stays on unlike RMs.

Picked it up for £84. Ultimately you get what you pay for, hence why RMs leak after 30 mins, and this stays dry throughout the day.

The orange coat keeps me bone dry, aside from sweat. If you look after it, it's waterproof.

Never had a problem with the stormcoat either and had several over the years - the secret is to treat them as if you own them and as if they were any other reputable brand. Wash and reproof with something like the "Nikwax" system every couple of months and they should be good as new. Sadly many of my colleagues treat their equipment with little or no respect and it returns the favour.

The water proof trousers are good to begin with but then the water repellent coating starts to wear off and they start to absorb.

The storm coats keep you dry but are not breathable, only good in the middle of winter and the water just pours off it, if you're in a van, the next 4 days the seat is soaked!

Even though they get wet very quickly, the shower proof jacket is the best. I recently had a new one and it seemed to have a much better water repellant coating on it so if you're using an old one, get a new one!
