I think our office has got the worst union reps ever, he tells us all this stuff saying work to our time and take our breaks etc, etc. What does our union rep do? comes in at 4 o'clock because it suits him better, maybe it does, but im sure theres thousands off post men that would prefer early starts. But they stand by and fight royal mail by working to there time, because they want to win royal mail!

Also our other union rep decided to on the sick for 2 weeks during the strikes, so he doesnt loose any pay. What great role models our union reps are.

Anyone else have any problems like that in there offices

I have to say the union reps in my office can actually hold thier heads high
one of them went ill last week before the strikes(a genuine illness)
He then only went and rang in to say he was fit for work for the strike days,so he still had his wages deducted
I can only admire someone who truly believes in his principles that much

Again i salute our Rep..EVERY strikeday she's there,sometimes alone i might add..always on her bloody mobile getting us reports on neighbouring offices and always stumping up the cash for the coffees and bacon butties,and when her rest day does happen to fall on a strike day fcuk me if she don't give her days wages to Charity! Absolute GEM!!!

I did it for seven years because no one else would take the job on mate. I told the daft sods where all this racing around and arsing the job up would lead, and did they listen? Over 40, fighters, under 40, can't be bothered with very few exceptions.

Ours has been fantastic in Huddersfield. He has been on the picket longest, made sure information got out etc. Kept us warm with sandwiches and coffees etc. He post on here but the does not influence me.

not at our place weetrogg,i presume your not in the sk1/5 area,our rep is sound its our membership at stockport who let him down by coming in early using cars etc, we had a union meeting today and 25 turned up out of over 200 members

who didnt turn up today.

We used to be a militant office until Thatcher's generation started arriving. I look at the people in our office and there seems to be a split. Over 40, fighters, under 40, can't be bothered with very few exceptions.

Swings and roundabouts mate,they will start getting bolshi,at a certain point ,and folk like you have to be there to,make sure they stand up for all our rights,or our bairns will be nothing more than cannon fodder for the twats that want to keep us down.

That's the dividing line in my office as well. Anyone who remembers what Thatcher did in the Eighties tends to be up for the fight, Where as if they were in school or under 20 they don't remember what a decade that was for industrial relations etc.

I have to be fair our office has a fair number of non union members, under and over forty, many on short 20/25 hour contracts and they have supported the strike. When it comes to the Job Proper Scheme there has been a total lack of interest. Most still using cars, taking all mail, coming in early - though some have taken the hint. Reps? Well that is a lengthy and difficult subject but there must be communication en masse and organisation and we unfortunately have neither.

spot on iww fellow worker,just the same at our office. thatchers "self" generation have come home to roost!!! it is always the over 40's on the line ,fighting management etc! it is the same "old" faces on the line. once we have gone they and the union will be f****d! regards dongash opg macclesfield proud to be over 40 + militant ! the only person i have ever been scared of in my life was me mam!!!!
