I have no idea ,whether or not they are financially better off,as for your other points,how can it be illegal? Unless you mean contrary to,the conduct code,so beloved of our management.

There is the logic in using vans as packets are the future, in certain areas HCT or large capacity cycles might be more appropriate if there is nowhere to park up in a van. It could have been managed better, intimidation and bullying to enforce targets would only be counter productive, vans are not the problem, its local managements in some areas.

Do they still have dynamo powered lights on bikes? If so can you charge a PDA whilst pedalling?

Offices should not have kept any bikes for use "just in case" after the revision has been implemented. And they certainly shouldn't be letting you use bikes just for travelling to and from work.

If the cycle is no longer a method of delivery for that office then here is no provision for checks, spares and servicing and is definitely not an alternative for getting to and from work. All cycles should have been disposed of after modernisation except in special circumstances. As a mode of transport there are definitely better alternatives from Halfords than the RM cycles but I'm not sure if the cycle to work scheme is still in operation.

Scraping a push bike would hardly be noticed, but scraping your van would likely be investigated by a manager.

I was told they were sent to Africa,haven't they suffered enough?

I did send a number to Africa via Swindon and they had to be serviced and repaired to UK standards prior to despatch but I think later on there was a separate disposal instruction but by then we hadn't any. The last 7 went to another office before their modernisation which was delayed for a couple of years because they were having a new office built.

I don't doubt it just as I am sure that there are bikes hidden away for use on delivery. That doesn't change the fact that as dvbuk55 says they shouldn't be. The remaining bikes should be removed over the next few months so it will be obvious that any left after that shouldn't be there.

Most bikes are sent to Africa via The Krizevac Project charity. They are extremely grateful for them.
