Fed up with complaining customers

Had a really irritating day today. Firstly, what's with the early morning delivery of big parcels? I think it's a ridiculous idea to be knocking on doors at 7am!!!!! Most people were highly annoyed.
Secondly, I had to put up with the wrath of an idiot who wasn't happy I opened his door and put the parcel in. He said it was illegal (is it?) and don't do it again. Well, I knocked and knocked and he didn't answer, so I tried the door and found it open and put his parcel in. Most people are fine with this. In fact, many people tell me to do it for them!! He takes forever to answer his door. If I have a parcel in future for him, he will probably answer the door after I've put a card through his letterbox and am half way down the street!!!!
I'm getting so fed up with the customers. They always have something to complain about :arrrghhh
Then there is the bloody pdas. The battery is constantly bleeping and almost flat by the end of delivery. I can;t clear my items because there is not enough power in the pda and the guy in the office is a s**t bag who complains that i haven't cleared my items. I tell him the battery is flat, the items won't clear. His response ---- IT'S NOT MY PROBLEM!! :arrrghhh

Yes its illegal to open their door. Its also an invasion of privacy.

As a postman you have implied legal access to the point of delivery. When you open the door, you passed the point of delivery and are technically committing trespass.

The other customers, have given you specific permission so you should be okay there, but still if they deny giving you permission, then you can still, theoretically be done for trespass.

some customers are quite happy for their parcels to be left inside their front door if its a porch and kept out of sight. Depends on the customer.

And as for the delivering all the tracked items at any cost malarkey. Ive had to NOT deliver a tracked items at a particular address because it stated on the parcel PLEASE DO NOT DELIVER TO NEIGHBOURS. Its good to know that not everyone wants their parcels left several doors away, even though it is common practice for all other couriers. Royal Mail used to unique in that respect, but it is fast losing its own identity.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

someone might be in...but they might be sleeping, taking a shower, getting ready for work, getting the kids up for school, whatever. Most people are busy at that time of morning if not sleeping. If my alarm was set for 8am and someone woke me an hour early- I wouldn't be happy.
People certainly do not expect the postman to be knocking on the door at that time!!

We sometimes have an excess SD duty, nothing more pleasurable than getting people up at 7am (unless its some bloke in stained y-fronts)

slight flaw in your theory - when I started only 10 years ago going out on delivery at 7am was normal. Most of my regulars want us to go back to that.

Or the people who cant be bothered to answer the door at 7am and so you leave a 739 and then phone up to complain that they were in :crazy:

Its ok mr/mrs customer i'll just wait at the door while you finish you cup of tea or get dressed don't worry that its pi$$ing down :arrrghhh

Well I think it's OK to open the front door as long as it's a porch but it's a bit iffy if it's the house. When I worked for the electricity board I was sent out to check the usage at an old ladies house, the note said she was very deaf so I knocked really hard but the radio was blaring out at a fair old rate and so I assumed she couldn't hear me. Cut a long story short I walked into the front room and through to the back room only to find the old dear pulling her drawers up in front of the fire - as luck would have it she had her back to me and so I cut a hasty retreat, closed the door, waited a couple of minutes and opened the door again and shouted as loud as I could. :oops:

got a complaint the other day for folding letters to go through letter box lol asked customer how i was meant to get the post through the letter box especially flimsy payslip type mail

Which is "doorstepping" and leaving mail in an insecure location, doing this is playing a loaded game of P45 Russian Roulette.

None of us should be touching porch doors to see if they are unlocked if they look properly shut.
