All employees must wear and display their photo ID when they’re on site

Our business policy states that all employees are required to wear and display a valid Royal Mail photo ID card while on site. We’ve agreed this with our unions.

The safety and security of our employees and the mail we handle is our number one priority. If we don’t keep our customers’ mail safe, they could take their business to a competitor.

Good security grows business. Everyone has a responsibility to act securely.

Safe and secure

Photo ID cards help to keep our people and the mail safe and secure, by preventing unauthorised entry to our sites. We are regularly audited to ensure we meet the required standard for photo IDs.

Agency workers and contractors must also be able to produce verifiable proof of identity.

If you lose your photo ID, please tell your line manager immediately.

When you’re working off site, employees must also be able to produce their photo ID card. This may be requested by a Royal Mail manager, a customer or the police.

Polite challenge

If you see someone on site who is not displaying a Royal Mail photo ID card or a visitor pass, please politely challenge them. If you feel uncomfortable doing this, please alert a manager.

Access all areas?

Remember, although someone may identify themselves as a Royal Mail employee, it does not entitle them to unlimited access to all Royal Mail premises. They still need to have a legitimate reason to be allowed onto other sites and into restricted areas.

What was wrong with the gold badges with name and number on. A mini photo could be included on these. Lanyards and yoyo cords are Moya Greene.

Thats why they have a "snap" lock on them, any reasonable tension and the snap lock breaks apart.

I and my office only put the duty Number and our initials - 6 figures - I though all offices did the same.
