Kill offs/deads

If you had say 5 kill offs 'gone always' etc one day and you put them back in a bag for the mail centre with other collection mail,Would any of them not come back to you the next day,Or would you expect them all back again?

Never done it as it would be some sort of RM offence I guess but the ones I get normally come up in the mech so if the machine missed them once I guess it would miss them again. Anyway how hard is it to kill 5 items?

Often get mine back in my sequenced mail with the red stickers on!

I think it depends if the address has been scribbled out enough, or the orange bars obscured in some way.

You'd expect them back because you're doing it wrong. RTS must be kept separate. It is put through mech where possible in a different mode to look for return addresses if not it has to be manual. By mixing streams you're delaying it returning to sender which could be classed as Wilful Delay. Would you really intentionally put Specials in with collection mail? It amounts to the same thing.

Do the job right - it may take a little longer to put it in your RTS frame/trays but that's not your worry.

And just to point out how much of an idiot you'd be to put RTS in collection mail, when it gets to the MC and is tipped to CFC or IMP drum and is noticed and pulled out, guess what. Those items identify your walk and the date it was processed.

You need to scrub out internal barcodes and cross out the address as much as possible

I agree with all your points, just a question for a mc guy, we got a memo out about a 18 months ago saying that when customers are putting the returned mail in post boxes that mc staff were going to start intercepting and then killing them off at mc rather than do. This seemed to work for a few months but now we are heading back to original levels arriving in the do, has this been stopped now?

some of the deads are returned to offices as gu gy and iom plus international mail need cn-15 pink labels on them instead of the uk red stickers nowadays the deads are marked rts and sent back to the mc with out red stickers and are returned to the sender of the letters, letters with no return address are sent to the rlb hope that helps

New students arrive at their digs and immediately post last years tenants' mail back with not a mark on it. Guess what, I deliver it out again with a note saying either cross out the old name and write "gone away" or simply tear it up and bin it , guess what , it never comes back again

I'm only getting about 20% of the kill-offs I got last year. I figure they are being filtered out, probably by the sorting machines.

I find that everything comes back if the orange bar codes haven't been covered with a sticker, no use just crossing them out.
