What happened to this? I thought it was part of the new agreement, and was supposed to have been place from April - six months ago....

Re: Incentive scheme
Yes there doesn't seem to be any hurry to get this in place does there? Apparently RM have decided they can't afford it and the union aren't up for a fight to get your hard work recognised.tansorboy wrote:What happened to this? Re: Incentive scheme
One company my brother worked for had "Loyalty" payments where each year worked added an increment to basic pay, I wouldn't like to suggest it was a kings ransom but even if it was only £50 a year over a number of years it added up. That's not the only way of course but it doesn't involve busting your chunks for a measly few quid on what in the past has amounted to FA.

So you think it's fair to discriminate against someone because they're unwell?matthew68 wrote:Why don't they reward peopledvbuk55 wrote:Yes there doesn't seem to be any hurry to get this in place does there? Re: Incentive scheme
Maybe they are trying to come up with something that incorporates D2N compliance

Re: Incentive scheme
Either way if they were unwell and off work they wouldn't be contributing to any form of work based scheme so what would you suggest.Hitcher wrote:So you think it's fair to discriminate against someone because they're unwell?matthew68 wrote:Why don't they reward peopledvbuk55 wrote:Yes there doesn't seem to be any hurry to get this in place does there? Re: Incentive scheme
If Moya's sums are correct, i.e she has disclosed that 1% of the workforce off sick at any one time costs the business £30 million.
Currently and according to issued data - RM's sickness levels run at an annual 4.3% of the workforce.
So according to the numbers (RM) provided, this equates to a £129 million pound physical loss to the business each year, straight from the P/L line.
If I were on the Directors list, I'd sure as hell be trying to tackle this cost, especially as they have been bearing this cost since 2012 ( again according to published RM data )
Or.... maybe no-one thinks that a business cost from 2012 to current of £258 million straight off the bottom line is worth thinking about.
RM > If it were my business, I'd be looking at this with a fine toothcomb including offering incentive schemes for sure.

Re: Incentive scheme
^^ Oh and just a side thought here.
How much in terms of ££ are annually given back to RM through it's staff who come in early, work a short while over and don't claim etc.
Lets'd do a very quick math here.
Hourly earning - lets say £10
Base it on 1,000 staff across the country each day just doing 1hours free work, be it in early, not taking breaks of time at the back end.
Daily rate free to RM =£10,000
X 6days a week = £60,000
x 4.3 weeks (avg month) = £258,0000
x12 (months of year) - £3,096,000.00
One could argue that more than 1,000 people out of a workforce of 150,000 are giving more than one hour free - but the example here shows a rough and ready figure that you can multiply by however many if you knew the real number.
These hours, this money is being given free to RM by it's staff.
Why the hell should they think of incentives to staff when they are getting all this free to the business at the moment.
No wonder they don't make a squeak about early starters, no break takers and later workers.

Re: Incentive scheme
Of course that is only half of the equation - lets say of 150,000 staff, 5000 go home an hour early every day but are still being paid £10 an hour for no productive work at all: now the equation to calculate the amount of money paid out but not producing would be 5 times the amount not paid out for productive work. Add to that those 5 or 10 minutes coming in late every day and there is a considerable outlay for nothing.

Re: Incentive scheme
^^ Indeed dvb - agree with you.
They are the top level numbers that RM see. - From above the workforce needs to pull it's weight.
It boils down to just how RM want to deliver that instruction albeit from a strong management stance or through WCM initiatives.
Either way I'd imagine their view is that everyone has an hour or so a day to be doing more and should be doing more.

Re: Incentive scheme
So if I continue to work , coming in with a stonking cold that results in numerous OPGs needing time off, I should get rewarded?

As for WCM initiatives, if you believe that is the way forward,we are in a deeper hole than I thought.

Both are claiming it is a threat to the USO.
If at the same time they start offering the incentive scheme to staff it would completely negate their argument.
They can't on the one hand wail that the USO is about to disappear because we can no longer cross subsidise and on the other offer everyone a share of the profits ....
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
