TNT MAIL DELIVERIES COMING SOON.

We've been told TNT will start delivering in our area in the next 3-6 months, they've already got a hub sorted out in the local retail park vacated !! With this we were informed in some offices where TNT do deliveries mail has dropped by 37% and that staff are getting moved to mail centres simply because the work isn't there !! Has this happened to anyone else and their office cos this is a very worrying development.

I've heard that locally TNT will start delivering in some postcode areas in the next couple of years, when they do I expect that the amount of sequenced mail we put through the machines will drop like a stone and could end up forcing a single wave of sequencing

Called 'one pass' which is already on the agenda,all mech trays will come in later rather than earlier I.e 8am or later!

The regulator is way behind the curve here and should be stopping this.This is the folly of a national service being open to competition on a non level playing field. There are still plenty of letters around that are important and need a good delivery network to get them all round the country. The regulator is totally undermining the USO by allowing this cherry picking.Royal mail should hike its prices substantially to rural areas if only to focus the public/regulator on what is happening.Any other ideas? Because soon the letters business at royal mail will be losing millions and will be unsustainable.

How will they move delivery staff to Mail Centres? If the mail is not at the delivery end, then it's not at the MC either.

As I keep saying, if traffic volumes are down as much as they keep telling us,why would anyone start their own delivery service? Have they been lying to us all these years? Surely not.

Even if volumes are down imagine the cash flow for a business that handles 17,690,000,000 items per year - even if you make only 1p on each item thats £176,900,000 pure profit. Thats the reason why TNT are entering the market - the possible cash flow makes their books look good.

Well there is room for everybody else , as TNT recently said,they will be delivering less than 1%. If a Royal Mail had ,had any kind of decent senior management in the past,they should have looked after our customers, by maintaining a decent service ,such as delivering early etc and realising that DSA prices were a joke and costing the business a fortune we might not be in this situation. Not that the current senior management are much better, however, credit where credit is due, at least Moya realised we were doing ourselves down and has done something about it.
