Dont know if this has been posted but royalmail are changing the goal posts on packet sizes in the run up to christmas, so expect even more packet .

My day off today and heard on the news earlier that RM are reducing the price of sending packets up to 2kg in weight for Christmas..if I heard it right..so yes looks like we are going to be get hammered. Dreading Christmas this year. Just hope the weather is kind to us..

its good hopefully this will get us more parcels, but are they expecting us to handle the increase. I hope they get extra staff where needed. nobodys ggonna be happy wondering why their parcels are sitting in a York because they don't have the manpower to deliver them. were on our knees now and everyday till xmas will get worse

How to redefine packet sizes...! Alter the dimensions allowed to make "small packets" even bigger!

From 20 October to 18 January, all small parcels weighing up to 2kg will cost £2.80 to go second class.

Parcels weighing between 1kg and 2kg had previously been priced differently, so will be £1 cheaper.

There will also be a permanent increase in the permitted dimensions of small parcels. Some now defined as medium, costing £8, will drop a category.

People whose gifts qualify as "small" rather than "medium" could save £5.20 from the size-change and the Christmas offer.

What % of Christmas parcels are actually sent by the public though?

Our DO, 80% is Amazon, 15% other online retailers, then 5% - if that - is parcels from ebay etc.

You do not need extra staff, probably your round will be made bigger as you should now be delivering most of your packets first time, no need for 739 anymore, this will give you more to deliver packets, also if you can walk or run a bit quicker cut any meal breaks out and start a hour early for the Christmas good will gesture you can do it.
