I saw a thread a while ago about sabbaticals and the question if they are still allowed. The other day someone was querying if they are still allowed as they had been told that sabbaticals had been discontinued and that the subject had been brought up at a WTL to confirm that. Does anyone know?

We've got one just come back from a six month break and one lad off to travel the world for six months in December.
Thanks for that 97 it may well be worth for the lass to pursue it.

Imagine having a "career break" for 6 months / 1 year and then having to come back to Royal Mail!!


Bigger rounds, more packets, different start/finish times, fewer vans, different staff......
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Well it's merely an option not a requirement if the new start, education, family commitment ends then it's still a job to go to whilst you decide if it is still an option working for RM or not.

Yes you can still take a sabbatical/career break, the shortest amount of time is 6 months, I am part way into my sabbatical :nana

Just found a useful link for anyone thinking of taking a break. Apparently, you need to have at least 2 years continuous service and you must apply at least 3 months before the proposed start of break
