I have been asked to work at another office which i don't mind doing my question is if I use my car and claim mileage do i start from DO at my normal time and then travel to the new office arriving when i get there or because I am being paid mileage i just start and finish at the new office, when i asked the manager he said it was either mielage or overtime to cover travelling time

As far as I know it's your normal offices responsibility to get you there and back within your duty time. You shouldn't use your own car unless you're covered for travelling to multipple places of work.

It is Royal Mails responsibility to get you to the other office, if you use your own car you should be paid mileage.

Your hours of work are from your office to the return to your office, don't let your manager pull a fast one.

If you want to use your own car you will have to tell the insurance company and pay extra for business insurance as you are normally only covered to and from your usual place of work.

Also they may want you to travel there in your own time to start work at their start time and then work a full day. Much better as others have said to report to your office at your usual start time and get them to arrange your transport there and to transport you back to finish at your usual finish time. This will mean that you are not able to cover a full round but that is their problem not yours.

Yes that is what I will do in the future as its not to my benefit to use my car a lot easier to stay at the office I am employed at and let them to transport me lol

I believe you can only claim mileage IF you have business insurance.
