UPDATE ON NATIONAL TALKS – GROWTH, EFFICIENCY AND NEW INCENTIVE ARRANGEMENTS

Following the letter sent to the company on the 21st July, the Union has continued talks with Royal Mail on a Joint National Statement that would bring together in a balanced way the issues of growth, efficiency and incentive arrangements.

The current position is that whilst progress has been made on a structured growth plan, it is still proving difficult to finalise an agreed approach to efficiency and incentive arrangements, given the continuing impact of direct delivery competition in both letters and parcels.

As stated in LTB 594/14, next week we will be announcing a date for a National Briefing in October and we will be impressing upon the company the urgent need to conclude the aforementioned Joint Statement prior to the National Briefing. In the event that the issue of incentive arrangements remains unresolved by the time the Postal Executive meet on the 7th October, then we will be considering other ways to achieve our objectives and fulfil the commitments made in the Agenda for Growth, Stability and Long Term Success Agreement.

We are meeting Royal Mails senior management team next week and further information will follow in due course. Any enquiries on the above LTB should be directed to the DGS (P) Department.

all ive got to say is a massive well done to the cwu and the yes voters for agreeing on an agreement that's been made up since the date it was signed off and agreed to with nothing in black and white with a non national strike rule , everything that rm has brought in benefits them and not the workforce especially in delivery , wcm , longs and shorts , all year long walk collapsing , more b&h from the dims , pushing non agreed performance standards , unachievable workloads , the list goes on , I will be interested to see how big dave and his crew are going to get any incentive scheme out with a company who don't give a s**t about there staff and only profit.

Worktotime you have mistakenly forgot to mention how much the Union membership will be decimated with ALL those VRs that are getting/going to be issued in the majority of the major cities in the UK.

to be honest I could have gone on all night , forcing people over there contracted finish time , unpaid o/t , banking of hours , I give up all this for an extra few quid in your wages a week oh and no mention of the £1000 of unpaid monies to all the hard working posties from the transformation in the last agreement .

So Royal Mail have got the CWU to tell us that "given the continuing impact of direct delivery competition in both letters and parcels" we're not going to get anything, not even much of what was promised in the last agreement.

so reading between the lines the CWU know that no agreement will be made on the new spangly incentive plan ( they didn't mention if any of the other issues weren't sorted before Oct they would do stuff did they) but know this will anger the serfs - sorry membership - so they added that caveat - without thinking by including only that it gave the game away

*SIGH* it is looking increasingly like all us doom-mongers were correct all along and the head honchos are now so far inside the pocket of RM they are practically in the lining

Of course if the CWU announce that they have indeed secured the incentive plan ( that should have been sorted a year ago) and that it is realistic and can be achieved and will give the grass roots a chance of making said incentives in the way the managers make their bonuses every year - and of course if it is backdated to the date of the 'deal of the millenium' agreement - then all will be fine and we will once again be reassured that they are looking out for our best interests and not just their own- of course if this actually happens then I will eat my hat, my coat and my first born, and grovel at the feet of our wonderful CWU masters

ive just had a thought about the all wonderful incentive scheme it could have been the other way , we work like f**k and r/m take the money so why didn't the cwu say that , sorry just to go off the subject but listening to this shite what chance have we got of getting any back dated holiday pay and any future payments , in the words of the area manager BE THANKFUL YOU HAVE A JOB. so be prepared for more shafting.
