issued stage warning

I buggered up my knee a month back. Was signed off from the doc and my managers, bless them, seemed supportive and told me to rest up Asked to work indoor but they declined.

After the first week the doctor signed me off again but able to do light duties/no outdoor walking. Took this to the manager but he said i wasn't needed again and got told to stay off till fully fit.

Finally got some indoor work after another week of hassling them.
Fast forward to this week. Knee is better and i'm back on full duty. Get taken into the office and get issued a stage warning since i'd been off so long.
Feel like i've been duped after repeatedly asking to actually work but being told to go home.

Didn't put my name to the mess of a statement the manager and written up about it.

Anything i can do about this?
I'm kinda looking to leave soon so i don't know if any future employers will look badly at my record.

I would not worry about that it's only a stage one and your sick record is only your time off you have had the statement is not available to another employer anyway how's the leg now then.

as far as I know 1st stage warnings are automatic, it doesnt matter how "genuine" you feel your illness was, RM takes the approach that all sick leave is as genuine as another. So once you go over the limit then the warning is issued.
If you ever got to stage 3, then the reasons for your absences are examined.

What you have to remember is that it doesn't matter what you are off with,Royal Mail do not care, they see it as you being off,they have to cover you, and pay you. Therefore there has to be a quid pro quo ,there is nothing you can do about it, hopefully you will be okay from now on and not have to be off, head down ,arse up.

no they are not automatic a good sick record and a good rep will help you beat an automatic stage 1

Just because your willing to do other work but that they didnt have anything suitable doesnt mean that absences wont count, you were not fit to do your duty you were employed for. you have not been duped, you were unable to do your duty for longer than the trigger point for a stage 1

as long as its not a long term disability covered by the equalities act then RM are under no obligation to provide you with alternative work while off with illness/injury

This exact thing is happening to me; been off 3 months despite my doctor and OHAssist saying I'm fit for indoor duties but work are having none of it! It does seem to be an odd predicament we're in, having to beg to go to work!

My advice would be, try to enjoy it and don't get stressed!

Totally agree. From memory 1 postie was 'off sick' on life support in intensive care.... got a stage ( he was OK and is now back on duty). Another diagnosed with cancer got a stage while under going treatment which was successful.

To RM's credit both got their stages scrubbed when it mattered but it seemed wrong to issue them in the first place. DIM reckons its to do with treating everyone the same.
