Rural tuition

How many days would you expect to get on a completely rural duty, we always used to get three. Today they threatened to suspend someone in our SPDO because he brought mail back for addresses he couldn't find. He had had only one days tuition by a postman who had only performed the duty on a few occasions six months ago .While on tuition they had to turn around and back track as he had forgotten parts of it !

Two days in my office ( one day note taking , next day driving ) , village walks no training ( if your lucky you get a 5 minute drive round the village)

I thought it's meant to be at least 2 days or even 3 for a more trickier duty. At my DO you're lucky if you get 1 - what usually happens is: I'll be scheduled to get 2 days training on a duty & then someone will be off sick and because I'm a reserve I'll get put on another duty to cover it. Then when I come to do the duty I should have been trained on they'll give me a map and say 'do you what you can find'. It's certainly a great way to run a business.

Oh for the good old days,when I started in 2005 my first duty was a rural and as the guy was going on holiday for 3 weeks and the round was considered to be the cream of the crop,I got a fantastic 8 (yes EIGHT) days to learn it all,after that any rural that I did always had a minimum of three days.I hate to think how a newbie would get on with only a map on some of the rural's I did.Sad to say that this company just gets worse and worse.

I had two days for a 'tricky' rural duty and that was the absolute minimum.
Years ago it was also two days for a routine village duty, nearly all odds on the left evens on the right, which just needed a street map rather than any training.
