Is there any agreement on getting say a Saturday off for a flight before a week or two weeks holiday

In the good old days - 25+ years ago - was there an agreement then ? I remember posties booking odd days for travel. Mind you the A/L entitlement was only something like 2 weeks 4 days a year and deliveries were six day weeks, so travel days would have been more of an issue.

Common practice here to book a fortnight for a one week holiday with flights on Saturday and the next Saturday.
