P&L and drop boxes

Our P&L revision is soon coming in and I was wondering what happens to the drop boxes? Are we able to utilise these? Heard in a couple of other offices Romec is coming round and digging them up even before the revision is in place. One postman went to get his drop bag only to find the box gone. After calling his lino Romec turned up later and dumped the drop box on the ground commenting that he wondered why the box was so heavy.

Drop boxes will go. All ours went when we moved over to P&L deliveries. You work out of your van as you'll have everything in the back of it. Bags, packets, tracked and specials.

Depends on how big your van, and how much you have for any particular day, but I get your point.

I think in the vast majority of cases they'll be left in to rot away as the cost of removal will be immense and Billy Shareholder won't like that

The way the job is changing, some HCT drop boxes need a size upgrade to cope with the literal volume of parcels.

Drop boxes will be removed if the DOM puts in a request as part of the revision process. However, many cannot be bothered or even know the location of the boxes.

And bag drops might continue for the new high capacity trolley walks.

I'm covering a walk this week that goes solo using the boxes whilst the driver does his walk with the van (don't have a problem with that). Annoyingly, a second pillar-mounted box has been removed since I last did it, bringing it down to 2 boxes. If the third mounted one goes the walk holder is going to be screwed, cause one free-standing box isn't going to take 8 bags. When the revision was revised, the planners asked me to identify the location of the boxes on my old walk. According to them, if solo duties clear the frame everyday then P&L is in name only.
