Amazon and their couriers

Over the last few weeks we have had a few Amazon stuff come back through the missort system to our sub-office because their couriers have mis-delivered the packets

Often all it will say on the packet "not at this address" or "delivered to the wrong address" and the person must have shoved it in a postbox to come back through the system

Now, how do we treat these items? Our DOM just shrugs his shoulders and says deliver it. But, it isn't our mail and they are not paying for it

Shouldn't it be sent back to Amazon?

it should be surcharged via the callers office and then the person who collects the item claims the postage fee back from the sender ( ie Amazon )
or it gets sent back after 18 days.

No doubt these packets are some of the missing ones that people on the Amazon Forums are on about and who've been complaining about their packets not being delivered etc.

You should take a look at the amount of complaints on there, pages of them. You'll find that these people have complained to Amazon about mis-deliveries, late deliveries and even non deliveries etc and Amazon are basically doing nothing about resolving this issue. There are pages of this kind of problem on the Amazon website.

I've been on the end of some of these problems, but not like in the OP. Amazon ended up redelivering to me two days later than promised, and I'd used Amazon Prime Delivery, for birthdays etc. Never again! I've order through their market place and Amazon Logistics just use the "man in a van" approach, and this is probably what's happened to these packets. Put through the wrong door etc.

We appear to have got amazon back again in my neck of the woods prob because Xmas is just over horizon. Never sure what they are playing at sometimes. It might be a case of not keeping your eggs in one basket.

A guy I know at Amazon says it's costing £120 a day for each of these AL white van delivery people.
Sounds like the real cost to their business maybe somewhat higher

Gawker, an American website, interviewed a couple of former managers at Amazon earlier this year (http://gawker.com/working-at-amazon-is- ... 1573522379) Apparently, the turnover at all levels is fantastic. One of the interviewees said that when he'd been at the company for five years, that was longer than 80% of the people they worked with.

Maybe it's just a case here of different strategies being tried out, almost at random, depending on whoever is running the show at any one time?

Mis-delivered Amazon packets that make their way into the Royal Mail system should be surcharged.

On another note I've just had an Amazon package delivered at 6.55pm. The tracking said it was out on delivery at 7.45am. Presumably the poor sod delivering it has been out for nearly 11 hours and still has a 2 hour drive back to the depot!

Any amazon items that make it into our system are surcharged to amazon ie the sender. That's what we do where I am anyway.

Don't have any problem with local Amazon courier but I rarely order anything massive. Last Tuesday when Destiny get released there is several of tracked delivery from Amazon and hopefully they will like our success rate to revert back to royal mail.

But again it all depend on location and who is delivering it.
