Our Dom has introduced a naughty list for those postmen who will not stay out after time to complete their rounds. He is saying that if we are not prepared to work extra during these heavy times then next year during light months he will make everyone work up to their time and wont be allowed to go home early. Does anyone know if he can do this????

We have been working to our time for two years now! They do us no favours so we do them no favours. Great way to get the best from your staff. Morale is very low.

We work all our 39 hours and a bit more and get o/t for collapses when we go over, a good wage for a week's work, but it is taking hours off our retired life , it's too knackering , and the linos do about 5 hours a week of grafting , that's what pi##es me.
If we complain about collapsing we are watched and harassed regularly. There should be an opt-out but EVERYBODY who does MUST return to the office and leave after the full 8 hours.

Yes he can...what's the problem with that.? We are paid by the hour not the duty.. some will be asked to to go back out to post mail others to to sort the kill offs..but that is only until our finish time. He will get fed up before you do.

He is correct in one respect that he is entitled to make you work your hours. However he cannot discriminate between those that work to their time compared to those that complete. If the office is on an easy day then he cannot just insist on the cut off people staying behind. If he does, slap in a grievance on the basis of discrimination. This is no different to a DOM asking for flexibility of 30 minutes for people that work to their time and yet paying those who complete, overtime for those same thirty minutes. It is total discrimination against those who work to their hours.

I'm assuming where you say everyone you mean just the 'naughty' postmen?

No he can't - it is harassment. He cannot single a group out from their colleagues and treat them separately.
If there is lapsing to be done during the quieter periods then it should be distributed fairly and equally and not as a punishment for not working over your contract.
Use the bullying and harassment phone number to explain and query his actions (and to go above his head in a logged and accountable way)

If you do mean everyone and not just the naughty postmen then it is an impotent threat because he should be doing his best to get you all to work to your time throughout the year.

Ask him does he also have a `naughty list` for all the lino's or senior managers who bunk off early on a Saturday or go for a `meeting` when really they are on the golf course or pub with their cwu counterparts.

This is the important bit. This is intimidation. This is harassment. This is not allowed.

Laugh at it. Not working beyond your time is nothing to be ashamed of. It's taken me several years to realise that. Your DOM is either desperate and/or an idiot. Pathetic.

same at our office.

we get made to do overtime for free otherwsise we have to stay will our time on saturdays.
then you areon the naughty list and the DOM has a vengence against you.

moral at our office is really low,in fact its quie sad how ripped up our office is these days.
the union do nothing and say there allowed to make us stay/go over with lapsing ontop of some walks ,if you dont take lasping u have to stay till time and again your on naughty list .

its a shame because some walks that go over have 2 part timers on(start at 8:45am) and only the 1st mech could be in frame and when they start others would be bagging up.
some people triple and quadruple prep,while some lazy people just throw there own walks up.

many managers have there little clicks witrh special staff,it just seems posties have no support anymore and its what i would call bullying from DOM and LMs
