Buying down hours....?

Hello can someone tell me the actual rules on this subject
Three years ago my office had people buy down hours there is now talk of gas being made up can these people who got paid 8k plus to buy down hours be made back up doesn't seem fair at all it's like a free 8k then us with lower serenity miss out again while they get made back up?.

As with most things Royal Mail related there are no rules just one big fuzzy grey area which Royal Mail manipulates to suit their own agenda.

At our last revision hours needed to be lost out of the office, with the likely result being that 2 part-timers would lose their jobs, I reduced my hours from 39 to 19 but didn't get anything by way of buydown as I was told they weren't available.

IIRC the limit is 2 years from buy down, and then on seniority for FT posts, along with everyone else.

Buy down doesn't lose seniority but your tied to your hours for 24months, afterwhich then welcome to apply for full time and use the seniority as clout. #unfairagain

You are sort of tied to your hours if you buy down for 2 years,however if there is a chance in those 2 years of going back up to full time you have to pay a percentage of the money they gave you back,that is what was explained to us.

For a buy down to 25 hours I would have got 6k when I enquired, they do still exist but the doms will get a nice big pat on the back if they can fool people into doing it for nothing.
