9 day fortnights & Reserves

Have any of you got 9 day fortnights and are your reserve covers getting 4 and 5 day weeks on a rotate?

I suspect each FT OPG does 78 contracted hours over 9 shifts in 14 days. :wink: :left: :chuckle

But more seriously, if the days off are rotated, it must get damn complicated if "long and shorts" are in operation.

Hi peterloo

My office still has a nine day fortnight, the manager and area manager have admitted that it was a mistake to offer it to us (covering days off is a pain) . We have had it for over 3 years and are use to it.

Regarding reserves the new DOM (who is decent compared to the previous manager and gets more from his staff) will ensure that if a reserve staff works 5 days in week one he will work 4 in week two. He doesn't always gets the Monday - Tusday/Wednesday - Thursday - Friday/Saturday in order but will ensure that once a month reserve staff will get Friday/Saturday - and the Monday. With this at times reserve staff might get moved around duties to get there fair share of days off.

Due to the walks/days being longer If you are working for 5 days most weeks your yearly hours will give you ammo to complain. Speak to the union or think about the grievance procedure.
