Saturday after Boxing Day.

Christmas falls on a Thursday this year and Boxing Day the Friday.

So I'm assuming those who are due to work on the Saturday after Boxing Day are expected in?

However one of the really senior guys in my office recalls when this happened before, that the Saturday was taken from your annual leave entitlement and you had day off as there would of been absolutely nothing to do. The days between Christmas and New Year, really are very light.

Anybody else remember this?

And if so what's the likelihood of it happening this year?

I believe we were given the extra day rather than it coming out of a/l,

If (big if) Royal Mail wanted to do it again i think they need permission from Ofcom? first, here's hoping!

No chance, the people who make these decisions will more then likely be on a beach sunning theirselves with their families while the rest of us have to come in and waste the morning sitting about waiting for what little work there will be to arrive from the mail centers before having to deliver it

Royal mail have informed the CWU recently that the Saturday after Boxing day will be a normal working day.(As now a private company).

The fight to get the saturday off as a non service day will continue but looking unlikely.

I am lucky for once...that is my rest week so I suppose I will get 2 days credit for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Hope you are right but the Doms are last to know anything and in my experience guess.
My info is from CWU HQ, but as i stated a deal could be struck so we get it off.

Having recently introduced Sunday deliveries in our area I would think it highly unlikely the Saturday would be a non working day.
