Pointless deliverys

I would say a huge chunk of what we deliver is junk and goes straight in the bin. I find it so pointless having a flimsy bit of car promoting a dfs sale and having to go up a long drive just to deliver that only for the owner of the house to have a go at me for bringing them junk.

Would it not make more sense to let mail build up and then do it at once. for example do a 3rd of a frame a day ( obviously deliver parcels and recordeds etc for all the frame?)

Now I understand the red tape behind this, people are paying for a service, but surly that is the future? it would save time and money for RM

We are a parcel company essentially now. Let the mail take a back seat and do it in blocks as you say. I would rather deliver alot of mail to a house 2/3 times a week instead of 1 letter 5/6 times a week.

Problem would be how RM differentiates between what goes on the day and what gets left to 'build up'

RM are stuck in the 90s and need a big change, and im talking a change that makes it better for posties and customers, not for the white collers pockets.

Finishing on time has always been achievable - work to your time and keep doing it until it is a management problem and not a delivery officers one!

I think you are missing the point.

In our office, everyone goes over by a couple of hours. some cut off. some do the over time.

People on here say 'its managers problem' well yes it is, but its not solving it, its just passing the buck, making them stressed which they take out on us.

imagine delivering half a frame monday and all parcels, the other half tuesday and all parcels, the first half again on wednesday and all parcels etc....

We would be happy as it would be easier to finish on time, customers would get what they want which is parcels to be delivered on time, managers would be happy as they are giving out less OT and people are not cutting off. Whats the issue?

We are currently being run still as a mail company with parcels as an add on, when in reality its the other way round

0.5 For a letter
1 for a flat
4 for a Fat Magazine/catalogue.
0.25 for each D2D
3 for a Packet
4 for any special
3.5 tracked attendance type (signed or knockers) and foreign attendance
3 for a tracked no signature non attendance and foreign non attendance
2 for recorded plus points for type.

But - 50 for early starts
-100 for no meal breaks
-75 for runners/fence jumpers.

You're the one that's missing the point, the managers are paid to manage, it's in their job title. If you want to finish on time cut-off, if you want the overtime, claim it, simples

You forgot -75(?) for filtering mail on the move for the next address, which if comes to light in relation to an accident on duty, you will be lucky to get full sick pay (if in the job > 12 months) besides the artificial time you are saving for Royal Mail like a good little charity worker.

Its not junk. None of it is .Its what keeps most of us in full time employment.Would You be happy committing wilful delay of mail?

You have an idea for "managing the workload" -- fair enough. Another idea might be -- in the context that RM makes a profit -- take on more staff?
