Why so busy today?

that was the busiest Tuesday we have had since ive been here. Just wondering if there is a reason why? I understand the increase in magazines being the start of the month, but parcels were insane. didnt finish till 2 hours after finish time (yes i got OT for it) usually on a tuesday im done a hour early.

no idea we were the same! be interesting to see how it pans out tomorrow, my guess though is its going to be a really heavy week :(

Perfect storm of a bank holiday, schools going back and start of Q3 soon for accountants and mail order firms, approaching Christmas etc.

Set of 5 D2Ds plus yesterdays mail we bought back.Management refuse to pay overtime so we ended up fetching just as much back today!!

Record breaking for a Tuesday, will be booking excess of well over an hour, didn't get out until 40 minutes later than usual average. And this when we have been told lapsing both indoor and outdoor is to continue indefinitely because of a regional budget overspend - I currently have approx 30 minutes worth on my duty.

Was really quite for me today. Not much mail hardly any packets. Plus for the very first time since starting I did a full walk and didnt have to fill out a single p739 card

And of course we all got our scheduled weekly national standard of 30mins WTLL today.

We were a lot worse yesterday, today was the nicest day since before the recent bank holiday week. But in general, when the kids' summer hols are almost over, the workload ramps up several gears, which is why lapsing is reduced/stopped around now... If OPGs are not gifting time to management by not doing the job right.

It is welcome that the volumes of Mail have kicked back in and are higher then Royal Mail anticipated hence the number of Mail centres who either failed or diverted Mail.

The problem however is that seasonal fluxations in volumes are driving the push for annualised hours to be introduced as standard 39 hours across 52 weeks per year do not reflect the peaks and troughs of Mail and as we all know Royal Mail are driving torwards resourcing only to workload and not to the duties within the office.
