Management throwing off rounds for lapsing

Why aren't the union doing anything about management throwing off rounds for lapsing including D2D's, sorting parcels and IPS, aren't they supposed to be doing their jobs??
or are they only interested in massaging the figures and their bonuses

Why aren't the union doing anything - good question.

Possibly because they are drivers and don't actually see what is going on.
Some union reps are against any lapsing and consequently when it happens they aren't in a position to negotiate anything about it.
Maybe they are just poorly trained.

IPS, prep, D2D - this is all our work.
The less work we have the less jobs we have.

What do you want the reps to do about? What can the reps actually do about it? Our rep has gone to disagreement over this more than once that I'm aware of and it still happens. Dsm says it shouldn't happen, Dom says it shouldn't happen but it still does. Apart from the whole office stopping work if it happens then I really can't see what else anyone can do.

The resourcing meeting should ensure the resources to do the work are in place without managers "helping".

our manager was prepping d2d on Saturday in all of the 4 walks we collapse. 4 - 6 contracts in each one. lol. oh yeah and today it was very busy and they were walking all day. then in the morning he will pour his heart out to us like we should feel sorry for them.

So, if this business was run properly, senior management would think...

We're paying £35k a year for people with lots of spare time to fill, to do work we could get a part time opg to do for £12k a year. Revise management duties to be more efficient and effective without all the spare time they have, reduce management by say 2 per office, save £70k. Employ 2 P/T opg's @ £24k. Saving for the business = £46k a year. Multiply that by say 200 offices, save £9.2 million a year!! Back of a fag packet calculation but so realistic !!!

However, as we exist in the management gravy train that is Royal Mail, the above does not apply. So much for saving money and improving efficiency being so essential for the business.

The Stock Market should be informed.
