Lost PDA

Left my PDA on the top of the van today... was doing a different walk to help out another postie who didn't know the walk and lost it whilst merging the other walk it was paired with! Hopefully someone hands it in, if they don't, what happens next? I've told the DOMs that were at the office, they said I will have to speak to manager on Monday

It depends on whether your manager is looking to reduce headcount and whether you have other conduct issues, make sure the rep. is involved though.

As usual no 2 offices are the same, but we've lost about 5 in our office since we got them and nothing has ever been done to those responsible by way of conduct etc. DOM usually just shrugs it off.

They also have never been replaced, so we're 5 short and have been told that we got our allowance at revision stage and will not get nay more until the existing models are replaced.

Lost mine about a year ago,wrote a report saying i had retraced my route but to no avail, no charge ,just told to be more careful, turned up 5 days later when customer came in to collect item,found it on dustbin,relieved ,but annoyed he had kept it for 5 days.

The irony is the scanners have GPS and a mobile phone connection, why wasn't a locator function built in to them. Soon as the postie notices it gone activate the locator.

They can track it from our locker - blackbay or something its called.

Our locker staff managed to 'lose' one actually in the locker .. it got put among a pile of packets awaiting collection by customer .. not noticed until customer returned from holiday 3 weeks after reported missing

A few of our staff have lost theirs much to lino's disbelief. From their point of view, how can you lose something that weighs like a brick?? And the answer, is it is quite easily done. Some leave it in their bags when delivering and they have gone rooting through the empty pouches. Others have done what you've done and left it either on the van or at a customers house when they when they were scanning something.

I wonder how you would react if they said it was coming out of your wages!!

you can get them for £80 now. So while it would be annoying if they told you it had to be replaced out of wages, it wouldnt be the end of the world. Plus I dont think they can do that anyway.

Some bloke called Tom Ross handed it into Villa Park and said put it in the trophy cabinet as it's looking bare these days

A few of our staff have lost theirs much to lino's disbelief. From their point of view, how can you lose something that weighs like a brick??

I keep mine in my trousers or shorts pocket. I notice the weight at first, but after a while I get used to it and can't feel it - so much so that twice I've taken the PDA home with me....
