Britain Needs a Pay Rise National Demonstration Leaflets and Posters

Please see the attached leaflet and poster order forms for the ‘Britain Needs a Pay Rise’ national Demonstration organised by the TUC. You can also order or download and print the poster and leaflet yourself through the Britain needs a pay rise website. Please note that you can order 1-10 posters, flyers or both for free.

This March and rally will take place on the 18th of October, 7 months before the next general election and as we have previously mentioned it is crucial that we get as many people onto the streets to demonstrate against the dominant view that austerity is the only answer. What the people of this country need are decent living standards achieved by proper jobs on wages that don't create poverty.

The 18th of October is our opportunity to add our voices to an alternative that offers hope to millions and not just the few.

The need for a good turnout is given added importance following recent evidence showing that in reality average incomes in the UK have dropped by over 6% since the so-called economic crash (Office for National Statistics) whilst Government tries to convince everyone that there is some sort of economic recovery for all.

The march will assemble on the Embankment from 11am and move off at noon heading to a rally at Hyde Park via Northumberland Avenue, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly. The march will not be passing Westminster or Downing Street as it is a slightly shorter route than previous marches this is to allow as many people as possible to get to Hyde Park in time for the rally.

Maybe this wouldn't have been needed if Tony and Gordon hadn't opened the floodgates to millions of immigrants to drive down wages ?

So you should be.
If inflation continues to outstrip wages all that can happen in a capitalist economy is that either demand must drop causing large scale unemployment and recession or the shortfall must be made up through consumer debt eventually causing another debt fuelled economic crash, large scale unemployment and...recession.

It is short term economics for dummies in place right now and all right wing capitalists should be very nervous, and that's without even considering the long term damage done to the economy by reducing the ability people have to save for their retirement and the burden that will inevitably place on the state and by definition...our children.

The truth is any right winger with brains would be shoulder to shoulder with clash city and his left wing cohorts.

Rightly or wrongly, Britain isn't ready to drop the austerity view any time soon. Inflation fears would prevent most "money-for-nothing" policies gaining support.
When you look at how the uber-wealthy media moguls have benefitted from income inequality in recent years, austerity for us has served them very well.
With the media and other big business running the politicians the best we can hope for is a one-off tax rebate to boost consumer spending (and win a general election).

Once the principle is eventually accepted here, we will have "one-off" tax rebates regularly. The world's "best" economists are advocating governments everywhere
attempt to end recessions by 'investing' future generations' income. Better in our pockets than the bankers.
