HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
Greetings one and all.
Some advice is what I am after really.
Been a paid up member of CWU for many years.
A group of us transferred into ILC/HWDC about a year ago under MTSF2 terms and conditions.
We all got Tuesday to Saturday early shift vacancies.
We were all very happy with the terms and conditions we received when transferring in for instance travel money and various reserved payments.
Now a resign is happening and there are a few things we are not sure of.
For instance under MTSF are we guaranteed to keep the shift we transferred into or will be be thrown into the pot along with
everyone else?
I understand our payments will be protected but will our shift be protected under MTSF2?
I need to read MTSF2 thoroughly but does anyone have any information about this particular area of MTSF, IE the area involving resigns?
Many thanks.

Apparently I have to read a document entitled:
"Resourcing jobs as a result of major change"

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
I'm in sort of the same boat as well. A bunch of us transferred from London about four years ago into Saturday-Sunday, 15-hour, 36-minutes-a-week duties. Of which there are no more in this resign.
I think for you, the answer is "no," "maybe" and "probably." The MTSF in its current version doesn't guarantee that you'll stay on the same shift. But maybe the CWU branch from where you came in negotiated that you'd keep the same jobs for a set amount of time?
Also, while there's a big push to get people on the late shift at HWDC, they have more work than they know what to do with at ILC, on all shifts. I've noticed that people coming into the mail centre(s) usually have been in Royal Mail a lot longer than everyone else, so seniority should do the trick for you. (That is, if you haven't already gotten a letter telling you that your duty is going to "flow through" or be in the same in the new structure.)
Anyway, sorry for the somewhat vague answer. There's supposed to be union reps available these next couple of weeks, so they should be able to clarify it.

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
The Mail Centre I work at is having a re-pick as I type.
The Mail Centre manager along with the Cwu have agreed things need to change and fall in to line with the arrivals and the national workplan as the current duty structure is not correct.
Anybody whose duty when they came in to the office which has not changed by the criteria set out in the repick section in the way forward agreement has the option to opt out of the re-pick along with all AGs who have remained on there duties.
Every body else has had to pick a new duty and can change shifts in there seniority if available we also have some new 4 day week attendance patterns.
MTSF does apply but can not guarantee what job or shift you get as this is done by seniority I think.
There are winners and losers for example the opt out process has meant a lot of junior posties have been able to remain on there duty when some one senior has had to pick up another for example could not get a packet job and are now a reserve.

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
Im also at HWDC. People who joined pre 2013 get to choose what they want according to MTSF and then Seniority. As I joined after 2013, i'll be left with my same job role but a reserve position. Is it even right for this to happen? To give newbies the reserve position, even if they were not told about this when joining RM. Why are we ended up with S#!T

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
Chatting to people and management at work and they keep saying that my early shift and job are protected under the terms of the MTSF2 agreement.
As I understand it it goes something like this.
If I transferred into ILC from a late shift at another centre I would preferably be placed on a late shift at ILC (because I already receive the late shift allowance).
If no late shift was found I could be placed on an early shift but I would keep my late shift payments for three years.
This is the MTSF.
The MTSF is more about ensuring you keep your payments rather than protecting what shift you are on.
In my position I transferred from a mail centre into ILC on an early shift.
In my old job I was on an early shift.
I therefore have no shift allowance to be protected.
The MTSF does not guarantee what shift I will be on it only guarantees that I will keep certain allowances for three years.
Therefore my early shift vacancy is not safe from the resign I will be thrown into the pot the same as everyone else.
If I received reserved rights late shift allowance then as part of this resign the company would try to find me a late shift duty.
If I was in receipt of reserved rights night shift allowance the company would try to find me a night shift duty.
Being on earlies the company has no responsibility in finding me an early shift vacancy as I receive no shift allowances.
All I can rely is my 17 years of seniority to qualify me for an early shift duty.
That's how I see it.
And one more thing no one at ILC has a duty, we are all reserves or whatever they call us.
The building has only been open a year and after this resign will be the first time any of us have a correct duty with a full 318 detailing our work responsibilities.
Does this sound about right?
As usual at work there are a lot of people saying a lot of things most of which are not strictly correct.
My gut feeling about my early shift duty being protected is "maybe" because it seems to me this is what the management want.
But one thing is for sure and was mentioned earlier...
ILC have more work than they know what to do with.

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
One thing about this resign though.
There are fixed term contract employees called "FTC's" for short.
I'm not sure legally how long they can remain as "FTC'S" before the company has to award them full contracts I think maybe two years.
So basically FTC'S are the bottom of the heap.
They really do get sh1t on by everyone.

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
By the way there has not been one rep turned up at all whilst all this has been going on.britwrit wrote: There's supposed to be union reps available these next couple of weeks, so they should be able to clarify it.
It's been going on for one week already and is due to be completed by next week.
A lot of people are really in the dark, It's actually quite shameful.
I mean look at this place, not one rep has stepped forward to help and this is the union room FFS.
But I guess it's fair to say local reps are hard to come by these days I mean they are volunteers after all.
Now this resign must be policed properly and I don't see anyone doing that.
All we have at the moment is the assurance by management that it will be done right.
Not sure I trust managements word on this one.
The devil as always will be in the detail.
It's quite a complex resigning procedure.
Flow throughs, different contracts of employment for different people, MTSF, grandfather rights, reserved rights, all in one big multi cultural 23 different languages
being spoken place.
So you can imagine the picture of the chaos being created.
I spend my life trying to fit in but I always end up standing out.

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
There is rumours that my small delivery office could close and we will move to big office. Area rep has told us that if it does happen we keep are duties (mainly rural) for life. The big office re-signs would never affect us. Whether thats local or national agreement (or his imagination) I dont know.

I guess that's what we call a flow through.ruralrosetta wrote: Area rep has told us that if it does happen we keep are duties (mainly rural) for life.
The only problem would be if those duties were withdrawn due to work pattern changes or whether those duties were amalgamated with other duties then you would have
surplus employees and a resign would have to take place to find new duties for those surplus employees.
There is no guaranteed duty for life because no one knows if those duties will be around for ever.
At least that's what I think.

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
I guess at the end of the day the biggest let down is the lack of any union representation or visitation during this whole resign.
The CWU is going to lose massive amounts of support at a brand new and very efficient running and profitable centre right next door to Heathrow airport
and the only centre that exclusively handles massive amounts of import mail from places like China and America.
It's a growing centre with a bright future.
Bum move on your behalf you complacent CWU head Honcho's.
Maybe we should all join another union and throw in our CWU cards.

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
ILC = International Logistics Centre.
It's a building/warehouse in the same industrial park as HWDC. It was opened last year and now handles all the parcels coming into the country (as opposed to HWDC, with still does almost all of the packages going out.)

Re: HWDC ILC resign/ MTSF2 and all that jazz.
Britwrit as part of this resign I may get the opportunity to move next door to ILC's big brother namely HWDC.
Maybe on RVP or arrivals and departures, depends who else wants those jobs and has seniority above me.
Another job that caught my eye is pallets TDS Tarrs.
Something where I am left alone to just get on with it is what I am after.
Plus I have a real hankering for Punjabi women so it might be fun.
I love the parties and the food they serve up for the Guru's birthdays, I like to see the ladies get all glitzed and dressed up.
It sure beats a mundane postal outfit.
What do you think?
What's the atmosphere like over there?
Is it different to ILC?
Thanks.
