Royal Mail doing things the right way.!!!

It's becoming a joke in our office with the lapsing at the minute. We are now lapsing 4 duties everyday in the summer and 3 days a week we have been jam packed on our own duties with packets and I mean a lot. For the last two week at least two duties have been left behind by the posties as there isnt enough time to do it, unless of course we leave loads of parcels and then when they realise its all being left they then offer overtime to clear it. Only last week I offered to go back out at 2.30pm and do all the industrial areas which was one of the 4 lapsed duties and I got complaints because they were getting mail in the mid afternoon. Its the same duties being lapsed as well and not everyone wants the overtime.
None of the posties in many years have never seen anything like it and I know its happening all over.
You would think with TNT lurking in the shadows RM would pull their god damn socks up.

the job here is in turmoil, managers just cut-push-cut-push
we never cut off, may leave the lapsed bit in but always complete our own, usually to time or 5/10 over
today was chokka, but told we must take out lapsed bit even though we'd said we'll have a job completing our own duties,
we was told to call about 12:30 to estimate what would be left, 1st time ever that, so did and got told i was a liar and they said "we'd said" we'll complete what we took out, but why were we told to ring at 12:30?
they sent a lad over to take some off us (in his car) and miles out of his way home & did a cul de sac taking less than 2 mins then he went home.
our extra lapsed bit took 50 mins, failed our own duty by.....50 mins!

I really wouldn't worry too much about that deal, it's not worth the paper it's written on and will soon be getting re-negotiated to bring us more in line with our competitors t&c's and 'cost bases'.

Yes, the mail drops off in the summer, but what they don't understand is; It doesnt matter if you've got 5 letters for a delivery point or just one letter it still takes the same amount of time to deliver!

But it only takes 20% of the time to prep 1 letter instead of 5.

Agreed - which is why indoor lapsing is a lot cleaner and neater than outdoor lapsing.

Never have never will. RM are shooting themselves in the foot here. There is no respect for staff anymore and absolutely no concern for our health and safety. Nobody in my office has weighed a bag or trolley since the initial six weeks of the revision nearly a year ago. They are also destroying what little good will was left by pushing us to limit.

If people cut corners now they are cutting their own throats. Why the hell are idiots still coming in early, not taking breaks and rushing round to make a little time?

Dickheads. F/T and P/T - every office has them, doesn't mean it's right though. The minority of people that do their job properly are under constant pressure, because dick-x or dick-y always manage to do such and such in this or that time.. You or I might do the job properly and be able to ignore the bullying/harassment/pressure from management, but there are weaker people who can and do buckle under such pressure and feel the need to rush around and complete etc, we/the union should be looking out for people like this, but do we/they? No. well, if asked I would back them up, but that's rare, shame really as I like a good tussle of words with those incompetent managers..

CWU? - c*** Workers Union? Glad I'm no longer involved, they have no power any more, just happy to sit on the sidelines and cosy up to the management from what I've seen in the large office I work in.....
