Hoildays while on sick

Im on the sick due to a car accident and im due to fly off on me hols next week. what is the correct procedure so i don't get me pay stopped etc

Will you be fit enough to work during the holiday - then advise the manager as such and go on holiday - you'd have to return to work at the end of your holiday obv.

Does the Doctor recommend you going away for rest and recuperation, or does he consider in his medical opinion that you continuing with your holiday would be beneficial - if so get a note from him to cover you.

If neither of these then you'll have to have a discussion with the manager and be honest with them. You don't want to lose the money and you think it will help your recovery, offer to contact him by email (if you are able to) just so he has a point of contact.

Although the best advice I can give is to speak to you local rep as they know the local management and ethos and will have a better idea what will help and what will hinder.

I have a guy on long term sick, he had to sign off sick go on his holidays and sign back on sick.
I consulted area rep, he said this was right as RM would end up paying him twice for his holidays, as he would still have them to use when he comes back.
He also was advised to get a letter from his Doctor saying it was good for his recovery.

does that count as 1 or 2 sick absences then. just to clarify regarding going on to different stages.

Hi aiden it counted as one, the area rep said to make sure it was because some RM managers will try to make it 2.
So i would make sure either by contacting your rep or area rep to back you up.

You cannot be on the sick and take holiday entitlement at the same time

Gluteus is right. Stay on the sick and go on your break and don't worry about it. If you had booked the leave before you went sick and are still covered by a sick note then RM have to re-credit you the A/L days. You can't be sick and use up leave at the same time, regardless of whether you actually go on your break or not. I had most of last year off sick and the first thing I did when I got back was take my 6 weeks leave they owed me. I still had 2 holidays with the family when I was sick but what's that got to do with RM? The doctor certified I was not fit for work, sitting on a beach in a warm climate aided my recovery

Having read the various threads in this posting it seems that individual offices have their own system in dealing with annual leave that overlaps into sick absence and in relation to " Beanmuncha" posting the guy had to come off sick leave take his holiday entitlement and on return commence on sick leave again while others will have their A/L credited to them on coming off sick so in the guy in " Beanmuncha" thread has lost out.
It is part of the conditions of the attendance procedure that regular contact is made with the office if requested to attend for an interview for an update on your condition and this would be difficult if you are sunning yourself on some far distant beach.
If your sick note covers the period of your annual leave and you have informed RM that you intend to be travelling abroad and this is part of your recuperation recommended by your GP to assist your recovery and get you back to work quicker then your A/L should be credited to you at a later date.
