Dom has told us we have to start doing 1 sixth a day and clear regardless of having mail or not, this makes no sense at all i have quite long drives on my walk and it is a complete waste of time started this last week and is adding more time to walk he now says we can throw as many as we want in our frame but must clear the whole section for that day which meant tue i had to go to 28 addresses with just d2ds the customers were not happy and told me they dont want just them when i deliver so much for customer service can anyone tell us what we are actually supposed to do as we are not spreading the load if we can fill frame up , i thought this was the idea!? i am now starting to come in on time and have claimed twice this week and my partner 1st time for 3 months so well done dom , he was not happy but i said we are doing what he wants and now trying neighbour it all ads time!

I don't know how logical this is but I try and do the bulk of my d2d in the first 3 days then they are out of the way

Same here i do at least half my delivery (every door) on Monday
nothing on Tuesday (i do my bit of absorption though)
then finish them off Wednesday and Thursday

A complete waste of whose time?
Cold-calling with D2D increases your call rate and decreases your chances of lapsing - as you say you have had to claim.

Why is doing the job properly so difficult for so many people?

Surely we accept we have to deliver them all and it's up to us how we do that, one-sixth a day or whatever just being a suggestion.

Well said clash, do 1 column per day if u have 5 sections or 2 Monday/ Tuesday if u have 7 sections, it's not rocket science is it

But the customers, the ones that pay Royal Mail and help get our wages paid, are the ones that send out the D2Ds not the receivers.

I have people complaining about D2Ds and I have advised them of 2 things.

There is an official opt out on the web, http://www.royalmail.com/personal/help- ... l-material" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; if they didn't have the internet then I would give them a note with the physical address the next day.

So far none has yet been that bothered with taking the minimal effort required to Opt Out.

Some do then ask if I can stop delivering, I point out that if I fail to deliver I can be dismissed and I would rather have a job where they moan at me, than not have one at all.

It's bloody well part of workload. If it takes you over then claim ; or cut off. It's not a bloody problem!!!

Its only 1/6th!

We even had some floaters trying to get away with leaving d2ds in the frame... Some are on the mistaken believe that we are not supposed to cold-call D2Ds. Where do these people get their info from?

Since D2D have become live mail then guidelines (usually it is a guideline with CWU/RM on these things) of the past are no longer relevant.

We even have posties leaving d2ds from previous week(s) until they get a letter for the address; and managers ignore these until we have auditors in when they start checking and imploring for clear frames. Some managers are part of the problem - RM needs a serious cull...

One of my colleagues who I deliver to always pulls them out of his house slot and puts them on top of my frame,He is always surprised when they ( and more ) are in his porch by the time he gets home ha ha

ok sorry for having a problem just voicing an opinion that i would have thought going to an address with mail as well would be more cost efficient to the business and be more customer friendly obviously i am in the minority i shall do as i am told from now on !

Basically your DOM is being a c*ck . Ours doesnt bother us about them as long as all are delivered by Saturday

Which is the way it should be. As long as they are cleared,you should be left alone,so many people just take them where they are going, the managers have stopped trying to enforce it, if they ever did. Like everything else really, a lot of the time even the letters don't go out , let alone the D2D's! Privatisation seems to be working well. Not.
