all of a sudden our manager is telling us everyday to attempt 1st delivery by delivering to a neighbour. I seem to receive the courier every other day with the same thing. We had our DSM up and basically said we have to make sure we achieve over 95 percent delivery rate on all amazon tracks. Otherwise, amazon are going to pull the plug on us by November, which means no amazon packets for Christmas.

Seems very anti competitive. amazon are bullies and now were being told to prioritise them.

I wouldn't worry about it , they tried it before when they started using tnt but then came running back because they couldn't cope.

in our postcode we have already lost 95%+ of our amazon packets to their own delivery company ( Amazon Logistics )

However, RM are working with Amazon to bring in a new Proof of Delivery system. ( which they hope will come in before Xmas pressure )

everything will be scanned as out for delivery by Amazon ( before RM collect the items ) and RM will have to scan every item as delivered ( no signature will be required so items that fit through the door will be delivered as normal )
this will mean the customer will know when their delivery has been made.

Amazon Logistice seem to be as bad as Herpe's Yodel etc in just doorstepping packets etc and even if 1% are getting lost it will cost them a fortune.

Amazon know we are good at what we do and want to come back to us.

every office has been told that they should achieve 95% delivery of packets daily. Hence trying neighbours etc.
Normal packets, recorded and specials don't matter at all, it's all about the tracked items. even ones with T48 on them have to be delivered the day they come in, where as before IF we had a heavy packet day the T48's would wait until tomorrow's delivery.

if this is the case, Why is there a T24 and a T48 if they are getting delivered within 24 hours anyway?

yeha I read that somewhere. that royal mail was delivering most of its t48 in 24 time.

The fact that probably 80% percent of all packets seem to go to the same few customers. I always find it amazing that the managers cannot arrange a delivery solution with the customer. Even if it means paying someone for a couple of hours in the morning or evening to deliver packets only, or even do it themselves. Instead of putting all this DTN pressure on it's posties.

I think that Amazon Logistics could be worse than Yodel. Saw a parcel today placed in a open recycle box soaked (rained heavy in the night). The lid was sitting under it but it was just dropped in. Owners away on hols this week so its going to get even wetter.

Amazon isn't afraid to ask for the best terms they can get in any business situation. I don't think Royal Mail is being singled out for any particularly harsh treatment.

As I understand it, there cannot be an overall 95% of parcels/packets delivered because we have no way of accounting for them. We have been told that the statistic is only being prepared from the tracked items delivered/returned and that makes sense if the aim is to cosset Amazon into returning to the fold.

Amazon have invested a lot of money in certain areas to get their own delivery up and running so can't see them returning anytime soon but saying that money talks and if it's cheaper to use us it could happen.

Will be interesting to see if they take up their option to buy part of Yodel

The time delay between T24 and T48 (1st and 2nd class to you and me) is built in at the Mail Centre.

When received at Delivery Office everything is due for delivery.

It's perfectly legitimate usage.

agreed, they have gone for a while i think!
if they buy up part of yodel this will put us further away from getting that business back!
