Picked on by manager. Want to start grievance.

One of the managers in my office has really had it in for me for years and years now. Even my rep says I seem to get singled out for unfair harrassment. Well I am getting really sick with it. I've just been put down the conduct code because my new colleague, a woman whose only been here a month put a tracked in a blue bin. It's my fault because I should have told her not to. I'm not a trainer so it's not my responsibility. I even once a few years ago got a row for not filling up the van with fuel. So the guy on collection had to and ran late, despite the fact that there was dozens on other vans he could take. But because of the fact that I signed the van out that day I should have filled it up. Oh one more thing about that. I don't even have a driving license. Still my fault though.

My file must be full of little mentions of informal chats or formal discussions about various things. To my knowledge any sort of error I have made in my 5 years in RM have been utter trivial. Things like customer complaints about miss delivered mail etc. The kind of mistake we've all made. So to my knowledge despite my file probably being 6 inches think, I've never had a verbal or written warning, nor any reprimand to my name. It's all been carried out by one manager, never anyone else. So I am getting really sick of it now. What are my options, today was the last straw.

Request an h1 b n h form.
Call the b n h help line on your payslip.
If suffering stress/anxiety contact your gp.

Call HELP,three counselling sessions.....

Or you could ask him politely with a witness...if you can both discuss any apparent issues he may have with you....

I've had to resort to the first three recently.
As the manager abused their position.

Keep a diary of all the situations involving this manager it could prove useful.
You might arrange a meeting with your union rep in attendance for a " clear the air discussion" and pointing out in no uncertain terms that his continual picking on you for minor mishaps could overspill on to a B&H complaint.
If your manger fails to recognise your concern over his treatment of you then try to get colleagues statements supporting your claim and proceed with the B&H complaint.
Sometimes nipping it in the bud can work wonders.

" Pinky1" I gave the " nipping in the bud" advice because on reading " Cardiffblues" posting on how he was getting sick of it that I felt he has not actually gone to this manger and vented his feelings on how his treatment is effecting him and enough is enough. This no doubt could result in work related stress and a long term absence being the result of it and maybe this is what this manger is planning so he can get to " Cardiffblues" by other means.

afraid a grievance seems the only way forward to me,
did your driver get reprimanded for the fuel?
and did your new oppo for door stepping?
if not and you had a rep/witness in with you at the time of the bollocking then you ought to look into it.
surprised your rep hasn't stood up for you already which is a worry that you could make it worse (if possible) because they won't back you.

btw, re the fuel, this is why i reckon drivers ought to get a extra premium for the added responsibility re van checks etc.

Those that have been in the job a while will know the payment as 'driving allowance'. It was done away with a while ago for new drivers, but those who got the allowance in the old days should still get it. I get £6 a week.

why does it matter if he is new to job people come on here to give or receive advice or just like to browse not to boast about how much they know about the job.

Ive been in the same position years ago


You can often get singled out by a royal mail manager if :

1. You work harder than all the other lazy guys in the office
2. You go about your work without screaming and shouting about it....but you secretly resent being asked to prep another duty, walk sort, take out someone else's packets etc. etc BECAUSE you don't give managers a hard time


Managers are only human and when faced with problems and issues they tend to pick on the weak, naive and vulnerable. A lot of stuff that gets thrown at you does seem questionable and petty. Stand up for yourself and fight your corner. Use the B&H helpline if you must, just tell them that your work is suffering as a result of this idiot.
