How many canteens have been closed or due to close in their DO's?

Ours is closing due to lack of use which is understandable.
However the management have had no interest in ensuring that staff take their breaks prior to delivery.
The CWU also appears to have no interest in challenging the management on this. If they did they would probably lose favour with members. As a result our facilities are being taken from us, and Quadrant staff are losing their jobs.
Hey and I thought unions were there to protect jobs, but I guess that's no longer a priority.

So what else will be snatched from us next and who will end up on the sole que?

Why should people be forced to have their break before they go out? I have breakfast before I go to work, so I don't want to eat again so soon, especially when I won't be back till 3pm!

In other industries your told to have a break. This shouldn't be an option, how many would complain if they were told they couldn't have a break and RM decided to not pay you for it?

I agree, and breaks should be taken away from the prep frame. If breaks are taken in the canteen then the said canteen has a chance of making money and staff more likely to keep their jobs.

Current situation at my office is dire, and sadly the canteen staff are down for losing their jobs because of all the ignorance relating to paid for meal reliefs.

But don't worry too much guys, you keep running round your walks, missing breaks and not using trolleys and the management will be back for more hours out of your office. And now we are private you might be the ones losing your jobs.

Selfishness can have an habit of biting you in the arse.

The CWU will probably not be in a position to protect you or your jobs if this continues as membership potentially declines.
So will the support for any protesting action.

we did have 3 vending machines,,,,coffee,,,cans of soft drink,,,and sweets,,,,on filling the sweets the lad left the door open,,,,that was 6-7 years ago,,,,it didnt stay full long,,,they have left it empty since LOL,,,,and the soft drinks has been broke for 2-3 years

I can see RM buying our paid breaks off us. If they then enforced the break you coukd have another 40 minutes added to your working day. At present our break is part of our 39 hours. If they stop paying you for your break they would still want 39 hours work. When will these mugs realise.
