Accident Proceedure
Can anyone please tell me what the new Accident Procedure is, apparently there is a new one which I cant find out. I am having trouble in my office with managers who are insisting on doing a RCA before they even think of completing an ERICA . I have always been led to believe that an Erica had to be filled out no matter what then an investigation had to follow and if that was found to be proven unjust or the member who had the accident was proved to be guilty of an unsafe act then the manager then had to go back into the Erica and put the relevant information in and then proceed to a conduct case. If we have a new agreement does anyone know where I can download it . Many Thanks.

Re: Accident Proceedure
As you have not been specific in relation to the circumstances that warranted the accident procedure then what we have is ERICA V HERECA the latter is what RM will invoke by turning your accident into an incident.TRIGGER wrote:Can anyone please tell me what the new Accident Procedure is, apparently there is a new one which I cant find out. This allows them to have any absences not having to be discounted in accordance with the new attendance procedure and also keeps their record of accidents at work to a minimum and satisfy the H&S Executive when they decide to visit the premises.
You have ensured that the accident has been duly recorded in the accident book and if an INJURY has occurred to your anatomy then it automatically warrants the completion of an ERICA.
Management will then undertake an RCA ( Risk Cause Assessment) by taking photographs and/or witness statements and then proceed if an unsafe act was committed eg. handling equipment with no training , failing to assess the situation before accident occurred and put it down to human error but not if your injured its an ERICA until proven differently.
I suggest that you speak with your H&S rep and explain the stance that mangers are taking.
This subject has already been brought to CWU HQ attention.

Re: Accident Proceedure
seems to be happening a lot. Someone i know had an accident on delivery recently and the manager was very reluctant to record it. Mind you he seems so incompetent he probably doesnt know what to do. Oh yes! This company really knows how to make its staff feel valued!
